Does Israel want full scale war in the Middle East?

I heaved a sigh of relief that most of Iran's drones and missiles had been brought down without reaching Israel and it seems little damage has been done, but it seems that is not the end of it. So, what do you think is going on? Does Israel need to have a full scale war with Iran and what do you think it would achieve or is this really about keeping Netanyahu's right wing govt on side?

I think you’re wrong there Cossy
Plenty of sane people would enjoy seeing Israel wiped out, bad people but still sane ones.

Can it be that for some ,‘eliminating all Jews worldwide’ is acceptable?

IMO, no one on here, or any other sane person, would find the eradication of ANY group of humans in any way acceptable.

Cossy Wed 17-Apr-24 19:34:46

I can see others points here, I guess if we “the UK” and the “USA” stopped supplying arms then less Palestinian children would be bombed.

“Until we understand that there is little chance of any lasting peace.”

Any lasting peace will be be force of arms whoever comes out on top, exactly the same as all the other countries in the Middle East. So it doesn’t make any difference at all unless you really believe that 7 million Jews are going to leave Israel.

I rather think there will be millions die before the Jews leave Israel.

Not 7m Jews, in Gaza about 20 times as many Palestinians have died than Israelis, if full scale war breaks out that will probably get worse, and dont forget Israel has nuclear weapons.

You cant eradicate ideas, but you can suppress them, as happens in every other neighbouring country they all have extremists that have to be controled

No one is overlooking anything. People speak in anger, so what one individual may say about another group, jews for example, does not make for official policy.
I have seen and heard on tv and radio Jews saying similar about the Palestinians. It comes from desperation and fury and it’s not surprising there is anger, on both sides.

Absolutely agree. Surely, despite Hamas and their terrorist grouped, there are “normal, innocent” Palestinians who just to go about their daily normal lives in peace, just as the “normal, innocent” Israelis do. This awful pointless needless killing is abhorrent to all.

So this country could stop the war started by Hamas , or could make it easier for Hamas to attack Israel

This country could certainly stop the Israeli military from bombing children.

As to the situation concerning Hamas, which is a terrorist group. Israel is a country founded and built through terrorism. I would imagine Hamas supporters would tell you if that is acceptable then they have a right to use terrorism to build a Palestinian state.

Please explain how the UK could certainly stop the Israeli military from bombing children

Most posters seem able to see the complexity of the situation. My impression is that you don’t Glorianny. You seem to take the simple view that Israel has no right to exist. That the only victims here are Palestinian.
Do you support Iran

Just because some people don’t agree with the way the Israeli government has behaved does not mean ‘ all Jews should be eliminated’. That’s patently ridiculous.

The first interview with Hamas head honchos I saw was two days after the 7/10/2023, before any retaliation by Israel, they were avowing their intentions to repeat the barbarism of the previous days.

There are numerous videos online of top Hamas bods reiterating this message.

Hamas reason d’etre is to eliminate all Jews worldwide.

If Israel hadn’t come out on top of every war waged on it, Israel would be no more. Israel has to come out on top or cease to exist. Israel fights for it’s survival regularly which is why it has conscription. It has to be ready to fight whenever the next offensive begins.

more’

They have and continue to do so Annibach a fact that is overlooked by some posters on the Hamas v Israel threads…

Israel has "come out on top " in every war and confrontation (thanks to the billions of dollars of military aid it has had from the US and others) but sadly it hasn't secured a lasting peace. No one has suggested killing Jews and no one has suggested they should leave Israel. Yet more deflection!

Anniebach Wed 17-Apr-24 17:49:58

Glorianny No one wants to kill millions of Jews.

Hitler did and history does often repeat

GrannyGravy13 Wed 17-Apr-24 17:48:14

Glorianny you posted

No one wants to kill millions of Jews

I can only assume that you have adopted the

see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil

regarding Hamas and its ongoing threats to repeat the barbarism meted out on 7th October, 2023 until every Jew on the planet is no more…

I don't think there is any instance in history when a terrorist organisation has been eradicated because another country "came out on top" People are easily killed, ideas are not.

Glorinny you said ‘this country could certainly stop the Israeli military from bombing children’. Do explain how this is possible , no mention of others

Glorianny Wed 17-Apr-24 16:40:31

How do Israel bomb only children?

Could Hamas avoided raping the little ones on 7th October 2023, and did they make sure there were no children at the music festival?

Sorry who said "only" children.
Who mentioned October 7th?
Avoiding the issue doesn't help.
Hamas supporters will see Israel as a country built by terrorists (as many countries are) so will see their terrorist actions to build a free Gaza as completely justified. Until we understand that there is little chance of any lasting peace.

“Not quite true. Hemedti, the leader of the RSF, is hardly a tribal warlord. He's one of the richest people in Sudan and was for a time a member of the government.”

Tribal yes, warlord maybe not, rich certainly, rather like the leaders of Hamas, rich through corruption and extortion.
The RSF he leads are a gang of thugs that have been raping and pillaging in Darfur and South Sudan, anyone that isn’t a Sudanese Arab is fair game. I don’t hold much prospect for peace if even if Hemedti wins, his supporters will soon find something to disagree about.
