I do not agree with what you say, but I defend your fight to say it

The Mayor has used the police to shut down a conference of differing political perspectives.

Isn't this how the Nazi party first pursued it's agenda?

A Human Rights lawyer has said this is a seriously disturbing action against free speech.

Of course it's anti democratic karmalady

Sadiq Khan that should be.

The same group held a similar meeting in London last year with no problems whatsoever. Stadia Khan had no problems with them. There are no public safety issues.

Unfortunately Farage and Braverman are loving the publicity they’re getting for this. Sick of seeing them being interviewed on Sky News. Although I love the comment from one of the reporters ie ‘ is that because of what you stand for, Mr Farage’ ( and we all know what that is…) If only he’d bothered to turn up at Brussels when he was paid to do so as a EU MP when he shouldhave been representing our fishermen…

karmalady

anti-democracy in action

Europe has seen it all before and are determined that it never happens again. Last time it resulted in 6 million (mainly Jews) losing their life.

This time they are after those following the Islamic faith.

Not much democracy for the Jews or Muslims.

I understand that Orban is not very keen on "freedom of speech" in his own country.

I have been unable to load Twitter today😡😡.

The report I was reading said that Orban wasn't due to speak until tomorrow, tough it may not have been correct.

Farage has left the conference (which means he won't be allowed back in) and is, inevitably, complaining about loss of 'freedom of speech'. These right wingers only like to dish out the authoritarianism. They're not too keen on being on the receiving end.

People on X/twitter are suggesting that he could take this to the ECHR...😇

Perhaps those who still support him will see him for who he really is. I don’t hold out much hope though.

Orban is also in attendance.

The police are allowing no one else to enter the premises.

Listening to Farage there is a worrying paper-thin line between his rhetoric and 1930s propaganda.

No wonder the authorities are worried.
