The time he almost lay down in the House was immensely disrespectful.
It did throw up some funny memes tho.

Thats grand then

... I just wish she hadn't said that.

If the Labour party is to win over the 'undecided' then, regardless of how the current Tory MPs behave (both privately and in the House), then it needs to present itself as a party of integrity, at the least.

I know that certain Tory MPs have done and said scandalous things too - all the more reason for Labour to behave with probity.

... and it is crass to attack someone because they are short, really it is.

If a Tory MP had said this about an individual in the Opposition, there would be an outcry.

Many are critical of Sunak - me among them - but this is really the wrong way to condemn him... with play-ground level personal taunts on his appearance.

He had a majority of 14,000 + at last election but YouGov poll this month have the prospective Labour vote as higher! If this trend continues many prominent Tories will lose seats.

Quite right flappergirl.

And according the latest YouGov poll I’ve seen, Reese-Mogg may not be sitting on the other side for much longer Oreo.

Rees Mogg who lounges around in parliament as if it’s his own private space. But hey, he’s from a class that can behave like that.

Oreo Wed 24-Apr-24 20:27:07

Or do you simply mean he may lose his seat in the next GE?

Where’s he off to then?

That sort of behaviour isn’t confined to ā€˜tory males’ am guessing you mean tory MP’s, and even so, isn’t confined to one particular political Party.I would love to be able to say that male Labour MP’s never do anything you mention, but that would be a lie.

I didn’t see it, only just found out from this thread, as I’ve just returned from the hairdresser.
If she’s to be in government soon, she needs some lessons in acceptable behaviour in my opinion.

Are you serious! Lessons in acceptable behaviour when she's working in a cesspit of Tory males who, for example, are incapable of keeping their willies in their trousers, who watch porn in the Commons, connect with rent boys, buy drugs and have sexually assaulted/raped more women than you can shake a stick at this year alone. And that's just for starters.

You've got a very skewed view of acceptable behaviour.

Oreo - I voted Yvette when Corbyn was leader. Yvette for deputy leader. If there were more like her in the HoC we’d be in a better place as a country
I’d still prefer Angela to Reece Smug

Happily tho, Moggy is on the other side of the House.😁

Casdon Wed 24-Apr-24 19:57:16

Unfortunately it’s behind a paywall, but the headline of the article in the Independent made me smile.

Angela Rayner attacking the PM for being short? Ooh… how low can she go?

If that's not the absolute height of bad manners, I don't know what is.

Absolutely unthinkably ghastly creepy man!!

Although I'm sure he thinks he's giving the impression of supreme, sublime, nonchalance - he just looks very silly in that video clip.

The current House does comprise quite a few who need a lesson in civility and probably need to read the Ladybird book on How-to-be-a-Grown-Up.

Farzanah Wed 24-Apr-24 19:34:58

I think Angela is a refreshing change from the public school politicians that we have endured over the last few years who have no idea, and don’t care how most of us live.
It is clear that she is seen as a threat to the Tories because the right wing press are doing all they can to discredit her.

She did not have an easy start in life, but has worked hard and with great determination to get to this position. She should be admired, and leaves Starmer in the shade.

Good for Angela. We need more like you.

Oh dear. She seems to lack manners.
I don’t have any time time for Sunak, but that’s beside the point.

Sparklefizz

What would people be saying if Sunak had personally insulted Angela Rayner? All hell would break loose!!

Joking about someone's height or physical appearance is unacceptable.

I agree. I don't agree with people saying she is from the gutter though.

I too have great admiration for Alan Johnson, who displayed the highest standards in both his private and public life. What a decent Prime Minister he would have made.

I think so too.

I thought she was in control in her own Angela way. When Corbyn appointed her to Education I was unimpressed. I’ve grown to like her, something I didn’t expect. I feel she’s grown into her role

I fear that only her hair has grown. If Yvette Cooper had been chosen as deputy leader I’d be much happier, but it was Rayner they voted for unfortunately.

Angela may not be everyone’s ideal politician but talk about her coming from (and belonging) in the gutter is frankly disgusting .
I’m not sure what coming from or living in the gutter means. I’m certain it doesn’t include being a child cater of a vulnerable mother who had mental health problems. All credit to Angela for grabbing opportunities and making the most of her natural
Talents

Casdon Wed 24-Apr-24 17:56:33

I just listened to this analysis on LBC. Very interesting explanation of why the Tories don’t like Angela Rayner.

I agree with what you say Primrose.

I recall that when we recently discussed AR a comparison was made with Alan Johnson, who had had a terrible childhood but made himself into a good politician who could talk to anyone. A thoroughly decent and honourable man. She should take a leaf from his book. When she gets going the gutter is still very much in evidence.

I am a big fan of Alan Johnson and have read all 4 books of his memoirs.

He can adapt his behaviour and language to suit any occasion and this is something we all have to do at times. Well apart from AR.šŸ˜
