Absolutely unthinkably ghastly creepy man!!

Although I'm sure he thinks he's giving the impression of supreme, sublime, nonchalance - he just looks very silly in that video clip.

The current House does comprise quite a few who need a lesson in civility and probably need to read the Ladybird book on How-to-be-a-Grown-Up.

If that's not the absolute height of bad manners, I don't know what is.

Oreo - I voted Yvette when Corbyn was leader. Yvette for deputy leader. If there were more like her in the HoC we’d be in a better place as a country
I’d still prefer Angela to Reece Smug

Unfortunately it’s behind a paywall, but the headline of the article in the Independent made me smile.

Angela Rayner attacking the PM for being short? Ooh… how low can she go?

Happily tho, Moggy is on the other side of the House.😁

I didn’t see it, only just found out from this thread, as I’ve just returned from the hairdresser.
If she’s to be in government soon, she needs some lessons in acceptable behaviour in my opinion.

Are you serious! Lessons in acceptable behaviour when she's working in a cesspit of Tory males who, for example, are incapable of keeping their willies in their trousers, who watch porn in the Commons, connect with rent boys, buy drugs and have sexually assaulted/raped more women than you can shake a stick at this year alone. And that's just for starters.

You've got a very skewed view of acceptable behaviour.

Farzanah Wed 24-Apr-24 20:24:43

Quite right flappergirl.

And according the latest YouGov poll I’ve seen, Reese-Mogg may not be sitting on the other side for much longer Oreo.

Oreo Wed 24-Apr-24 20:25:26

That sort of behaviour isn’t confined to ā€˜tory males’ am guessing you mean tory MP’s, and even so, isn’t confined to one particular political Party.I would love to be able to say that male Labour MP’s never do anything you mention, but that would be a lie.

Where’s he off to then?

Oreo Wed 24-Apr-24 20:27:07

Or do you simply mean he may lose his seat in the next GE?

Rees Mogg who lounges around in parliament as if it’s his own private space. But hey, he’s from a class that can behave like that.

Oreo Wed 24-Apr-24 20:33:35

The time he almost lay down in the House was immensely disrespectful.
It did throw up some funny memes tho.

Farzanah Wed 24-Apr-24 20:35:22

He had a majority of 14,000 + at last election but YouGov poll this month have the prospective Labour vote as higher! If this trend continues many prominent Tories will lose seats.

Dickens Wed 24-Apr-24 20:37:31

... I just wish she hadn't said that.

If the Labour party is to win over the 'undecided' then, regardless of how the current Tory MPs behave (both privately and in the House), then it needs to present itself as a party of integrity, at the least.

I know that certain Tory MPs have done and said scandalous things too - all the more reason for Labour to behave with probity.

... and it is crass to attack someone because they are short, really it is.

If a Tory MP had said this about an individual in the Opposition, there would be an outcry.

Many are critical of Sunak - me among them - but this is really the wrong way to condemn him... with play-ground level personal taunts on his appearance.

For Rayner, " when people are rude to you, they reveal who they are, not who you are" unknown.
"Insults are arguments employed by those who are in the wrong." Jean-Jaques Rousseau.
Fits well. Nothing more to say really.

The Houses of Parliament are a theatre.

Lots had been said by politicians of all hues.

I prefer a spot of passion now and then.

Politicians used to have something about them. Now they're mainly bland, boring and absurd.

Gosh, there will be many turning in their political graves tonight then.

Oh dear. She seems to lack manners.
I don’t have any time time for Sunak, but that’s beside the point.

Sparklefizz

What would people be saying if Sunak had personally insulted Angela Rayner? All hell would break loose!!

Mollygo perfectly reasonable and very true but you do know the AR lovers will not reply. šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‹

Just plain rude instead.

How did Churchill survive ,his body lay in state for three days, have a state funeral, voted the greatest Briton, not in
South Wales

Because he was conservative? Born in Blenheim Palace ?

I think the most astute one liner was actually said by Aneurin Bevan in 1948 who called the Tories "lower than vermin". What it lacked in wit, it made up for in truth.

Casdon Wed 24-Apr-24 22:47:35

My insults prize goes to Benjamin Disraeli, who I’ve always found fascinating. He was the master of the political put down, and had a longstanding dislike of William Gladstone. Among his best were:

"The difference between a misfortune and a calamity is this: If Gladstone fell into the Thames, it would be a misfortune. But if someone dragged him out again, that would be a calamity."

"Inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity, and gifted with an egotistical imagination."

"He has not one single redeeming defect."

The last one is particularly incisive.

Anniebach Wed 24-Apr-24 23:09:14

Yet Angela Rayner isn’t fit to be deputy leader for her put down
