I suppose Reform will be putting us on a war footing….wink ( cause they can promise what they like!).

Sunak has just committed to defence spending to be 2.5 per cent of GDP by ( I think…I need to check) 2030.

I think whoever is in power Urms its going to depend on circumstances at the time.

No one Labour or Conservative or indeed Reform Party can promise very precise percentages or amounts 5 or 6 years ahead.

Being on a war footing now? That's a separate discussion altogether.

We are not at war at the moment. The phrase"war footing" implies that we either are or about to be at war and I don't think that is the case now.

Cut some of the wastage. It’s rampant. Some departments more than others.

Surely defence of our country is the Government’s main consideration. Everything else pales into insignificance. We have been to lax, too generous in other ways. It’s time to beef up.

How would you raise the cash, Urm.

...Labour will seek to hit a target of spending 2.5 per cent of GDP on defence “when circumstances allow..." says Emily Thornberry.

What circumstances would that be? A direct missile attack on London?

Mr Putin is arming like there is no tomorrow, and if he prevails in Ukraine, the conflict will spread to Europe and the nations that were once part of the USSR.

We should have been spending at least 3% GDP on defense years ago. Vlad's having a laugh. How many of his 'friends' are on those boats crossing the Channel?

This country should be on a war footing now. Not waiting until 'circumstances allow….
