BTW I'm not referring to people on this thread, but some of those on twitter who can be quite hostile to 'mind changers'.

I agree with Galaxy too. While it's tempting to criticise their late arrival to reality, people must be accepted at face value when they decide they got it wrong. I don't like the "rubbing their noses in it" attitudes of some. Just because 'we' didn't fall for the dogma is no reason not to welcome those finally waking up.

It amazes me that some people have believed the transactivists' assertion that a transwoman is a woman. Changing gender is possible. Changing sex is not.

Perhaps she will show some concern over the teachers who have been sacked for refusing to use incorrect pronouns, as the Education Authority offered no advice and no support.

Too little, too late Gillian

Well it took a long time for the penny to drop. Trans women are men: simples.

Urmstongran Thu 25-Apr-24 15:59:54

They should parcel it up and forward it to Amanda Pritchard.
Useless woman.
Give her something to think about. On her fat cat salary.

My chum is a GP Practice manager. Apparently you should see the amount of documentation they have been sent, what and how to address this issue.
Apparently it's a minefield keeping up to date with the frequent changes, they can't afford to get it wrong.

About time

Urmstongran

True I suppose.
I’m a bit more cynical. I think she just realised in election year that she’d been backing the wrong horse.
But as you say it’s still good to hear.

Agreed! As the Tories cannot fight the impending election on economic grounds or by standing as a party representing traditional moral values 😀 they will fight on gender and what are seen by some as "woke" issues.

Mind you, she found it a "complex and challenging subject" hmm

I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I agree with Galaxy. They will face enough wailing from the TRAs without getting it from biological realists too.

I was very pleased to hear about GK seeing the light. I can't pretend I didn't roll my eyes about the fact that she didn't see this all along, but every step in the right direction is a step towards fairness for women.

Agree Galaxy

Galaxy Thu 25-Apr-24 14:55:08

Whilst it's frustrating that people fell for the nonsense, I think it's really important to 'welcome' those who have changed their mind. Otherwise there was no point in all the work that people have put in.

Mollygo Thu 25-Apr-24 14:18:04

Good. If you have to add a prefix to the word woman, then you’re not talking about females.

fancythat Thu 25-Apr-24 13:56:03

Sad situation, that an Education Secretary of all people, took so long.

AGAA4 Thu 25-Apr-24 13:50:13

Glad she has seen sense at last.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 25-Apr-24 13:48:10

👏👏👏

Freya5 Thu 25-Apr-24 13:42:38

Good.

Urmstongran Thu 25-Apr-24 13:29:39

Took you long enough Madam to learn the blindingly obvious. Five year olds understand the difference between boys and girls.
