We live in strange times. When there's a downer on women who stay at home and care for not just children but often elderly relatives (instead of packing them off somewhere). Whatever colour the skin.

Again whataboutery, do the British go on a rampage everytime some Cine show a film that offend them. Never seen Muslims dining out in our restaurants, ever. Plenty of people living in Spain use their local tapas bars and restaurants. You ever read anything that alters your entrenched view. Unless you've had family or friends in Spain, I would say you haven't got a clue.

You do realise there are millions of Muslims to whom absolutely none of this applies?

Could any of this suspicion of Muslims in the UK and Europe and every other country and continent be anything to do with the Muslim terror groups who abound everywhere now!
Just a thought.
Add to that the way many Muslim women are treated by the men, not only in the way they have to dress but also act.Beatings and so called honour killings and the threat of being ostracised by family and community.

I have read all the posts with interest and for once there are no accusations of posters being racist or ignorant. I am Interested in Islamophobia as some of it is simply an unease over a faith which finds Western attitudes unacceptable. I am concerned about the objection to people who are openly gay and as a n ancient feminist I do not like that section of the faith that insists on women wear dress that makes them totally anonymous. I worry that I am Islamaphobic because I do worry that we need to protect our Western Democracies against the awful separatism that religious faiths can cause in Western societies. The thing is that this argument over Islam splits us politically, The left leaning posters here seem to think there is nothing untoward happening and it is people like me who are more right of centre who worry about future generations. I will be 90 next month and I want my great grandchildren to grow up in a Western liberal democracy like that we have enjoyed in the United Kingdom. Who doesn’t want that? I hope that the establishment church of which I am a member will never change our way of life! Nor should any other faith.

I think the problem is there are those intent on fanning the flames and looking for discord (not you of course) rather than look about what we share.
Young people in school of many backgrounds whose parents just want them to get on and have a chance in life in the professions, business, that they didnt have.

I'm concerned about there being a climate friendly world for them and health care and education too.

Myanmar, Islam has been expanding into Buddist Myanmar, now they have been pushed back. Muslims don’t integrate with Indian Hindus so they are treated with suspicion. Islam is expanding into Sub Saharan Africa. Islam is expanding in every country in Europe.

Can any one give an example were Christianity or any other religion is expanding in an Islamic Country?.

Annie1 Not all Muslims wear a dress which makes them anonymous. My daughter's mother-in-law, who is a practising Muslim, doesn't cover her head, nor do her sisters or my daughter's sister-in-law.

"Some" is always the operative word, some may well be running the show, but we have had testaments from those who have been oppressed living a life of despair in our country. , Sometimes these women are from the Indian Sub Continent who speak very little English brought here for arranged marriages, equally there will be home grown Muslim women sent overseas for the same purpose, some have been murdered, honour killings, etc. we know this happens, there are enough legal organisations trying to fight for them and just because some Muslim women are female powerhouses, they won't mitigate the fact that there will be disadvantage women in their communities who will sometimes go unnoticed behind closed doors.

Regarding integration, do many British immigrants (I refuse to call them ‘ex-pats’ - they are immigrants) in Spain integrate into the Spanish culture, learn the language etc. No, they live together in ‘British’ enclaves, watch British TV, read British newspapers, eat British food and speak English!

Yes, that’s hardly surprising we have a constant stream of news features with Muslims involved in violence, of course it affects how we see Muslims in this country or any country in Europe.

Not one of the countries I mentioned up thread is democratic, they are mostly military dictatorships some religious dictatorships, they all use extreme violence to control their own terrorists.

As for integration, I said “most” dont and I would bet that more than half Muslims don’t socialize outside their own community - can any of you disprove that?.
