You only had to watch Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader, launching the new six-pledge card thing in Essex on Thursday. She bounced onto the stage with that expression politicians have the morning after a huge victory. Her face was one big soporific smile and she’s clearly been away attending a John Prescott word-mangling masterclass. “We aren’t,” she said, although she actually said “we are”, “promising the world,” which she quickly corrected to “the earth”, before adding: “But we are promising that what we are confident on we can deliver on.” Which I had to listen back to about six times to check I had it word for word.
Rachel Reeves then promised to “never play fast and loose with the public finances”. Let’s see how her VAT on private schools policy works out – indications are that already parents are eyeing up state-school alternatives for this September. Ed Miliband is going to “take back control of our destiny”, Yvette Cooper is “giving young people their future back”, while Sir Keir Starmer walked into that room filled with people in suits, tie-less in white shirt sleeves so you could notice him.
It all seems a bit vague. Maybe that’s deliberate?

‘It’s all about money’. A statement totally without foundation, but we mustn’t ask how you dreamed it up.
Oh and please don't anybody ask for data or facts or sources or links.
I am entitled to express my thoughts if I wish without cross examination.
Thank You.

Both major parties have supported the state of Israel. They have both been complicit in ethnic cleansing, the killing of thousands of men women and children, the deprivation of food and water, the destruction of their homes, businesses, places of education and worships. Thousands are held in prisons like concentration camps- bound, shackled and blindfolded. Neither of the main parties is fit to govern because they have no sense of morality.
Sickening.
Its all about money.

Being a ‘pro Palestinian’ is affecting your decisions to vote as to which politics will determine the outcome of the next GE?
Vote on what’s important here and not the middle east.
A low voting turnout won’t benefit anyone.
I agree.
There is so much of concern here and to let a foreign conflict influence the way a UK voter might decide is worrying. It has already influenced voters in the local elections which is wrong.
Especially when there are other conflicts around the world, eg Ukraine which is much nearer home.
I used to be indecisive but now I’m not so sure.
😁
Absolutely!
Exactly Oreo.

I'm a floating voter, despite being vilified when I posted that on Gransnet a few years ago. Despite the nastiness I received, I, together with other floating voters, am the voter who will decide on the next Government.
I remain unconvinced by either main party.
Please convince me 🙂
This is how I feel. I haven’t always voted Tory because I felt let down by them at other times but there’s usually somebody else I felt comfortable voting for. I used to be indecisive but now I’m not so sure.
I will, as usual, vote Conservative.
So the covid vaccinations, the furlough payments which saved jobs and businesses the energy and cost of living payments, and the retention of the triple lock to name just a few recent government initiatives, didn’t ‘bring anything good into the lives of ordinary people’ undines? What exactly do you expect?

Give me the 'politics of envy' over the politics of cruelty, any day. This government have emphatically failed to bring anything good into the lives of ordinary people. How anyone can even think of voting for them is beyond me (and yes, I have voted Conservative in my life!)

Frankly I think I would prefer them to Labour.
Of course you would. I’d be astounded giving your opinions if you said that you wouldn’t vote reform.
In fact I encourage you to vote reform😄

Vote Reform!

Well, if you can do a better job than our present politicians both Labour and Tory then I suggest you stand for Parliament and see how you get on.
Indeed, Mabon1 Every party depends on the people who are chosen to represent it in Parliament - garbage in, garbage out. There is a national shortage of people with integrity and morals, who are ready to take on a share of making all the decisions needed to rule a country of many cultures, traditions opinions.
If those with the loudest voices on social media and in pubs across the country were prepared to stand for election and take their chance at winning, we might get a wider choice of MPs and eventually a wider choice of party leaders and Prime Ministers. As it is we just get a lot of hot air.

I didn’t see it only clips but it’s not something to look forward to. A friend of mine lives in Wales and she said that they have ruined wales and just look at London it’s the same so if you think that they going to make a wonderful change take your head out of the sand
There’s still a lot to be thankful for if you live in Wales Nannashirlz. The government is democratically elected by the people who live here, just as it is in England, and for that matter the mayor in London. Shall we see how well Labour do in Wales at the next general election before throwing stones?

it will be just as bad, if not worse under labour. Make sure you don't have any savings as you will soon lose that.

I watched it. I couldn’t believe people would fall for it. What a load of bulls*it.
Absolutely!
And they're not pledges or promises, they're aspirations - anyone can have them and fail to deliver them. It's been going on for decades

I am politically homeless. Both main parties are not worth my vote and I don't just want to vote tactically. The latest nonsense from Starmer about gender and his previous confusion about what a woman is, don't give me any confidence in them. Maybe with a different and less indecisive leader such as Andy Burnham, they might seem a better prospect. They are all saying just what they need to say to attract voters obviously.
The experts have already demonstrated colossal failings in this area. See the cass report, criminal prosecutions in Europe re puberty blockers, and pretty much every single court case taken by feminists against the 'experts'.
(Sorry, I was replying to Mollygo from the last page, left it open too long.)
Hopefully they delve beyond what someone says, especially in a situation as serious as application for a GRC.
