I saw him interviewed along with his wife and daughter earlier. It really hits home how dangerous and life changing sepsis is.

It brought a tear to my eye, what a courageous man.

Some years ago I was in hospital with a lovely young girl in her early 20s who had lost one hand and one foot due to sepsis. It was quite rare then. No idea why it is more common now.

What an inspiration he is!

Primrose53 I suppose years ago people would have died with sepsis (septicaemia) now a lot survive due to amputation/s in extreme cases.

He and his wife have my admiration, very scary how it can happen so quickly.

I was amazed at the way he handled his 'hands' and 'feet'.. He was obviously persevering and I would think he's the type who would help others in this situation. His wife seemed very calm and his little daughter seemed to accept his 'new' body very well. What a scary disease

Well done him, he seems amazingly philosophical about such a life changing thing. I’m not sure many people would have the inner strength to do the same.

Definitely a brave man. Said its thanks to his wife’s prompt action and insistence that the ambulance crew took him to hospital. ‘A couple of hours difference I’d have been a goner’. Scary indeed.

Sepsis is something which we should all be aware of. If caught early it can be treated, but if not then it is fatal and many people die from it. If in doubt and feeling very ill, ask to be tested for sepsis.
Sorry to sound preachy, but this is something I feel strongly about. Not enough people are aware of sepsis and what a killer it is.

He's amazing isn't he.

He is very brave and stoical. An inspiration.

I had sepsis years ago and knew I needed to get to hospital quickly. However, once there and in a bed on the A&E ward, the young doctor on deputy practically ignored me for hours.
The care was abysmal all round until I said I'd get my DH to come and take me home.

Sepsis /organ failure were the cause of death of my book group friend’s 50 year old daughter and my friend next door both very recently.

There has been talk for several years of AMR (anti microbial resistance) which occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines making infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death and yet some people still expect antibiotics at the drop of a hat even when inappropriate eg viral infections.
We need to act on these warning signs.

I never thought I would say it but I really hope that this Conservative MP gets re-elected at the next election.

For his sake and for the sake of all those trying to lead normal lives with severe disabilities.

I’ve just been reading, the ‘hands’ he was given by the NHS were fairly useless, the amazing ones he now has were self funded from a private company. Apparently they cost £100, 000, it’s sad that many others in need can’t afford that sum.
I’m not decrying him having them.

I watched an interview with him and Christopher Hope, on GB News, last night. Well worth taking the time to catch up with the programme, if you can. It's gruesome in parts, but what an inspiration he is, with the love and support of his wife and little daughter.

However, as one of his constituents, may I say, respectfully, that I hope that he is not re - elected next time as my Member of Parliament.

I am glad he recovered and is well enough to go to work. My lovely dad died of sepsis a number of years ago.

Well deserved.
Such a trauma to get through, and come out the other side.

He had a wonderful reception at The House Of Commons today, it was on Politics Live. He apologized for wearing trainers and his lack of a jacket. He seems to have had a lot of support from The Speaker and Rishi Sunak, he thanked them both. I also hope he gets re-elected despite him not representing the party I support, he seems a decent man.
