The news feeds are buzzing, July 4th mentioned - ironic.

The Euro’s Football Tournament is also on then.

Think my DH will be far more interested in that

Most students I know will be working their holiday jobs.

Fortunately there is that thing called a postal vote

Who is playing the loud music over Sunak?

Joseann Wed 22-May-24 17:18:19

Is it Blair's song?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 22-May-24 17:19:26

Joseann

Is it Blair's song?

Yes it’s Tony Blair’s new Labour anthem

Rishi came across as incredibly arch and peevish about Sir Keir. Fairly immature for a PM.

Wel, off we go........

As I said on t’other thread, good speech from Sunak UNTIL he starting skating Starmer! How I hate these types of politics.

Cossy Wed 22-May-24 17:24:18

Or even slating!

vegansrock Wed 22-May-24 17:24:50

Usual drivel and we’ve got weeks of this…..

Casdon Wed 22-May-24 17:25:09

I didn’t like the music being played over him speaking. Let the man have his moment, it’s important for all of us.

I disagree. He was off from the start, telling us what he decided for the country in the pandemic. He wasn't actually Prime Minister then, unless he has forgotten?

The guy who yells outside Westminster? He’s a pain in the butt.

Sky reporting which rings with an element of truth, that the confidence votes were going to get to the magic number probably within the next few days, and Sunak was rushed into the election.

One does wonder over the grim optics that if the Tory MPs are not confident in their leader, why on earth should the country be?

Oreo Wed 22-May-24 17:31:51

Only just found out about the GE being in July, wowee!

Urmstongran Wed 22-May-24 17:32:06

The loud music was juvenile and disrespectful.

Grannynannywanny Wed 22-May-24 17:32:16

During Boris Johnson’s time £2.6 million was spent on a super duper media room in Downing St. I wonder why Sunak didn’t use it instead of standing outside in heavy rain being drowned out by “Things Can Only Get Better” played at full volume to disrupt his speech.

OldFrill Wed 22-May-24 17:34:06

Paula Vennells will be so pleased she's dropped down the headlines.

MaizieD Wed 22-May-24 17:36:48

Wasn't the media waste of money room dismantled once Johnson went?

Anyway, I'm quite excited now, it's been a long and weary wait.
