The news feeds are buzzing, July 4th mentioned - ironic.

Whitewave and Cosy. I feel the same. When Sunak called the election this afternoon, I was elated. Now, I’m scared that Labour might not win and what will become of the country then. I am absolutely taking nothing for granted on 4th July!

I didn’t realise what tune the music was, but thought it shouldn’t have been played, whatever it was.

Well one thing is for sure now, six weeks tomorrow we will know.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 22-May-24 22:43:33

Indeed. I think people in this echo chamber tend to convince themselves.

There was a 32% turnout for the local elections, hardly a figure to base forecasts on! I shouldn't be too confident.

Labour will win, so will Trump.

I agree that Labour will win.
Not sure about Trump, but I hope he doesn’t.

Interesting points raised on TRIP’s. Which Conservative MP’s will now have to announce that they will not stand for re election. Will Farage try to get the Reform leadership? How many Portillo moments are therelikely to be and who will they be ( please let it be Rees Mogg…)…

Wyllow3 Wed 22-May-24 22:09:02

Please not Trump.

Galaxy Wed 22-May-24 21:34:07

Labour will win, so will Trump.

The reference to five years just reminded me of a song that sums up the way I think many of us feel Whitewavemark2, this was performed after the 2019 election but the sentiment still remains exactly the same.

I think we should all bide our time and await July 5th. It’s not a done deal, I take nothing for granted!

I am the same! I am so frightened that we end up with 5 more years of spiralling ever downwards. Anything worthwhile will have disappeared.

Same here. Even more so if Trump gets re elected sad

Sky suggesting that as far as the Tories are concerned, this is as good as it will get. From now on in all the figures are likely to stall and go into reverse.

MayBee70 Wed 22-May-24 21:00:56

Just watching Sunak hugging and kissing all those Conservative MP’s who have probably already sent their letters in and have been plotting to replace him as leader….

MayBee70 Wed 22-May-24 20:58:34

At least he’s still out there reminding people what a disaster Brexit has been. I mean, where are all of those amazing trade deals that we were promised?

Urmstongran Wed 22-May-24 20:56:46

Tory: An 80 seat majority and they totally betrayed conservatives and brexiteers who voted for them. They deserve annihilation. Bye to the lot of them. Don’t bang the door on the way out.

Cossy Wed 22-May-24 20:50:11

Btw, I have a grudging admiration for his passion and comittment and for truly standing up for his beliefs, though another part of me thinks he’s just a bit bonkers!

Galaxy Wed 22-May-24 20:48:47

Hes not connected to Labour, hes a grifter and utterly self indulgent but no not labour.

Cossy Wed 22-May-24 20:48:01

Ooops In this way!!

Cossy Wed 22-May-24 20:46:58

Sorry I’m this way across the last few years.

Cossy Wed 22-May-24 20:46:31

Steve Bray isn’t funded by any political party, but by public fundraising, things like “gofundme” type of campaigns set up by individuals and funded by many small donations. I believe over £35,000 has been raised in this wa cross the last few years.

Spoiling your ballot paper isn’t funny. It’s an insult to those who fought and died to get you the right to vote.

No, it isn’t. The insult is in not voting, rather than in exercising your democratic right to vote but voting for none of the available candidates. If you do that with humour so much the better.

It was clearly done to wind up Sunak and this protester has also disrupted events run by the LP!

Does it pain you so much to admit that the LP are not 100% wrong all the time?

Cossy Wed 22-May-24 20:32:37

Urmstongran

Please don’t tell me what ‘I’m inferring’ Cossy. You’ve got me wrong.
And I’m not a Tory.
Embarrassing to say I voted for Blair in 1997.

Hey ho.
I’m voting Reform next. The electioneering (or any disruptive juvenile antics from Bray) will be white noise for the next five weeks.

I think the 5 weeks or so will be bloody awful!

Sorry if I offended you, you’re not the only one charmed by Blair!
