Politicians not standing for re-election

I don't value Michael Gove, despite his attempt to raise standards in grammar; he is unreliable, a trouble maker and a maverick. His present seat is unsafe, and I wonder if he is hoping to be jettisoned into a 'safe' one, or possibly elevated to the Lords, and do a David Cameron.

There will have been a lot of thinking/talking with partners/local politicians over the weekend. Expect results on Monday, after which things should settle?

I'd certainly be off.

I should think there will be a scramble for the door as they want to jump before they are pushed out. Less humiliating that way!!

Effective ? Gove was one of the architects of forcing schools to teach ridiculous grammar, narrowing the curriculum and cutting out arts, music and sport. Plus he failed miserably at levelling up.

I bet the Tories are sorry to see Gove go. Love him or hate him, he was one of the most effective politicians in his various posts.
