Me too GSM which is why I happily pay my monthly pensioner subscription of £2.50 to the most worthy cause facing this country - the Labour Party! I also donate £5 every once in a while, when I can.

I voted Labour and for Corbyn, because it was clear as daylight to me what would happened if Johnson became prime minister - and so it proved to be - in fact worse than I thought.

I voted for Starmer as the new leader.

I can’t warm to Starmer as he sat in the fence through lockdown and supported Corbyn, do prefer someone with the courage to say what their intentions are even if it’s not popular.
I didn’t like Rishi at first as thought he was a bit weak, but he has got the interests of this country at heart you can see that, but so did Boris and look how that ended., very undecided, do I vote for the party who has got this country at heart despite ridiculous Rwanda plan, what a waste of cash. Stop them before they make the journey here.

He has never personally supported Corbyn: (like a lot of us in LP) but all standing in the LP in 2019 had to campaign for the LP as was at the time.

As soon as we got the chance to elect a new leader we went for Starmer's politics.

Well I can't be worse off under Labour than I now am under the Tories, due to the tax rises my pension increase is worth £5 a week.

In his speech today Starmer said ‘Can I trust Labour with my money - yes you can’. I think a truthful answer would be ‘It depends who you are and how much you have’.

GG13 which private companies? I don’t think so.

gg13 is correct. Governments have always employed contractors to deal with cyber security, alongside government security forces.

Perhaps the contracts with these companies are some of the ‘wasteful contracts’ Starmer is going to cancel in order to fund his ‘plan’. He gives no details of what they are. He probably doesn’t know either but says it because it’s what his fans want to hear. I don’t believe that any contract with a private company which is beneficial to the citizens of this country (such as those with cybersecurity companies or private hospitals) is wasteful.

The NCF (National Cybersecurity Force) comprises of Government, Armed Forces and Private companies.

Like I have posted previously, the NCF have to be accurate 100% of the time, a terrorist / cyber attack only has to be successful once to cause absolutely mayhem.

Wwm2 yes security involves a full range of different activities. Since KS has yet to release his manifesto, we need to know what his plans are. Reforming the mindset of the Civil Service would be great but don’t hold your breath.

But there is a distinct difference between someone operating a computer for work purposes, and someone employed to ensure cyber security.

They are different people and only necessary information is given to those using the computer for work purposes.

But as I said, security if the U.K. involves far more that cyber security.

Wwm2 but are you or your friends or family members actively involved in cyber security? Senior civil servants don’t seem to understand even the basic computer security requirements.

Rather the lack of….in fact the Civil Service needs to update the way it does business with particular regard to computer security. Government departments are at fault.

I do know ronib I was a civil servant and I still have contacts with people in the foreign office, Number 10 and the revenue. Plus my second cousin works in the Treasury.

But we are talking more than about cyber security aren’t we?

Only exception- smaller parties have more chance of representation.
