Just heard that Iain Dale has decided to stand down for election as a Tory candidate for Tunbridge Wells. He was speaking to Nick Ferrari on LBC this morning.

Why bring something up 10 years old?

Iain Dale is such a kind and lovely gentleman. I don`t believe a word of this. I hope he gets elected as an MP

Me too, Karmalady. Ian is a gentle soul, and I’m sure he would make an excellent MP. Good luck, Ian.

The protester was anti nuclear , so CND or similar.

Yes someone who'd been a lifelong CND campaigner wanting to make his point. (and dog). Touch of the eccentric.

I remember John Prescott lamping a protestor. It didn’t seem to affect anything.🙄

Perhaps just calling the police in the first place.

Iain Dale - in Brighton - attacked an elderly gentleman who was holding an anti- Tory placard. Dale knocked the poor bloke to the ground.

Police did him for common assault.

So a protester, disrupting an interview with the former Special Advisor to Gordon Brown outside The Labour Party Conference Is 'Anti-Tory'?

Disgusting absolutely.

How do you suddenly move the interview without persistent members of the public from following you.
Not that any of this matters.

Wyllow3 Wed 29-May-24 14:45:07

Dale wasn't being interviewed, he was the interviewer. They should have just moved the interview.

This video shows the start.

Oreo that was my interpretation of events also.

I guess there will be an awful lot of barrel scraping over the next five weeks.

He may have been elderly but wasn’t a gentleman😄 Ian Dale was holding him back from disrupting a piece to camera and my view, from watching this film, was that the bloke was violent. He and his dog and Dale were tangled up and fell together.Let’s not dig up very old dirt from ten years ago that isn’t even all that dirty.

Wyllow3 Wed 29-May-24 14:30:01

I hope the local opposition will make sure the video comes to light and he won't be selected.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 29-May-24 14:05:09

Iain Dale quit LBC yesterday, in the hope that he will be selected as a Conservative candidate.

Iain Dale’s programme was on LBC yesterday…

Its pretty shocking but 10 years old

but worth mentioning as he wants to become the Tory MP for Tunbridge Wells

Oh I hadn’t realised that it was old. Just shows how careful we have to be.

But yes I do know that he is a Tory candidate for sure.

He has resigned from LBC I think.
