Interesting story of postmistress in West of Ireland whose weather report of approaching storm caused D-day landings to be postponed for a few days.
My father had an indirect link to her report as he was a meteorologist in Ireland and one of his duties was to go to these remote places and train the amateur weather reporters, one of whom was the postmistress in above report!
He had been a bit suspicious of the quality of the reports before he visited in 1942, as there seemed to be a lot with cloud and poor visibility. However when, when there, he confirmed the truth about the weather that anyone who has visited West of Ireland knows.
Recalled for a further appointment after a routine mammogram
