I wonder whether she benefitted from positive discrimination, either intentional or just a general belief in the need to appoint more women.

She is an ineffectual woman who should never have been in that job. Those who put/kept her there should share the blame for the devastation.

Alice Perkins' testimony was mind boggling and indeed was actually supported by the way Paula Vennells answered questions when she was before the enquiry.

Alice Perkins said that Paula Vennells was inclined just to accepted the reports coming from elewhere in the business. If IT or the lawyers gave her a report she accepted it and used in and quoted, using their words rather than her own.

Listening to PV's evidence, she kept saying 'well the lawyets told me' , or' IT advised me,' it sounded like she was shunting the blame onto others, and there was obviously an element of that in it, bur from evidence given today, it is clear that she lacked both intellectual curiosity and business acumen, in not questioning the evidence presented to her, not talking to IT staff and lawyers, to get them to justify and defend their opinions.

I did find this information boggling - that after 2 years int he job, she was found wanting, but didn't resign (aka sacked) but was with the Royal Mail for another five years.

So why didn't they?
