Anti Semitism within the Green Party

The Greens, like all parties should be looking for quality in their candidates, rather than obsessing with trying to have someone in every constituency.

As all the parties should surelyhave learnt by now, one bad apple, worse still a whoel bag of them, will do them far more damage for far longer than only standing in 95% of seats.

I agree Galaxy, that many different groups are looking at the Greens with a view to joining, and perhaps influencing policy. The party will have to flesh out its policies to include more than environmental concerns. These policies are likely to be more left than right wing in nature and because of that the main parties and the press will be desperate to discredit the Green party, and will be searching for reasons. They, the Greens, are also fielding a lot of extra candidates in a hurry and some may slip through the betting process.

I think you mean vetting, and think you’re dead right.In the rush to recruit they’re admitting all kind of oddballs and anti Semites.Not just on Councils but standing in constituencies.
They are discrediting themselves, no need for the press to make up any stories.

What a shame for long term traditional Green climate carers - we have some longstanding well respected ones on our local council.

Agree it has to be rooted out of course.

I agree with the last three posts maddyone, Monica and Galaxy.

It not left or right its an embrace of deeply damaging identity politics. It will finish them of course but I dont have the energy to worry too much about that.

I also understand that the Scottish Greens expelled all members who believe that sex is a biological reality.

My worry with the Greens as with Labour is that the leftwing/extreme Green tail have a etndency to end up wagging the main party dog.

Anti semitism is a terrible stain on our society unfortunately. I’m unsurprised to hear of it rearing it’s head anywhere at the moment. I also heard about these allegations in the Green Party this morning too.

If it's an investigation it's perfectly reasonable for it to be reported. The green party have got off very lightly with regards to scrutiny in the past. As with all small parties they are very vulnerable to 'take overs' from a variety of groups. It's easy for people to gain positions within the party quite quickly.

I don't know, it just wouldn't surprise me if it was.

The Green party have been getting more promises of votes just lately, mainly from left leaning people who are disappointed with the Labour party. Because of that, the mainstream parties and the press will try to find a way to discredit them.

If you Google its on most media channels. It's about prospective candidates I think.

The are said to be investigating 20 candidates.
