This remark reminds me of the old "let them eat cake" saying. Of course we now know that Marie Antoinette never actually said this. The quote was only attributed to her by historians decades after her death. However at the time people may have believed that she had done so. Endemic of a certaain attitude of those whose wealth and privilege removes them completely from the concerns of ordinary people.
When I was raising my children only the very rich and people on the dole could afford SkyTV. I never had it either and still don’t.
We have never been 'rich' but had Skype as soon as it became available - well we actually started with the other one with a squariel- forgotten what it was called - BSB possibly.
Here’s what we DIDNT have when I was a child We didn’t have A TV got one after I left home A phone my first phone was when I was 30 A fridge when I was 20 A washing machine I was 21 A car never had one
Don’t feel poor though I had a nice home, warm bed, food in my belly and two parents
Reminds me of the Monty Python sketch. " when we was young ,we never had nothing, we lived in a cardboard box" " cardboard box? You was lucky, we lived in t'gutter"
I am absolutely no fan of Sunak but that admission was practically forced from him, he kept saying he wasn’t deprived but the interviewer kept on and on and I think that’s all he could think of
