Trump and Biden head to head

However much we like Biden, his recall problems are going to “dog” him. Trump and his supporters are not going to let up on the attacks, cruel though it is, that’s politics. Harris is not a popular Vice President and the prospect of her taking over is going to make many think twice.

That is what I think calendargirl

The world is in a bad enough state as it is without inflicting Trump on it again.

Plan 2025 sounds like a horror story.

It certainly does and frankly it’s very scary!

I think Jill Biden is very keen indeed to stay First Lady, otherwise what wife would cover up for him, leading him off stage at times, whispering to him to tell him what to do, etc. when it's not in Joe's best interests at all, and certainly not in the country's. If she has any kindness in her, she would have encouraged him to stand down over a year ago.

He looks a laughing stock in front of Russia, China and North Korea. When the world is becoming more dangerous by the day, America needs to look strong with someone younger and fighting fit at the helm.

The situation really worries me as neither candidate inspires the slightest bit of confidence.

They weren’t allowed to interrupt and talk over each other and they were both strictly timed. Much better than the rubbish shouting matches we get here.

The Sky interviews were the best by far , timed, one at a time. Of course it was only the two main protagonists.

I have only seen edited clips on the news.

The current POTUS appeared confused and weary.

The previous POTUS seemed totally unaware that he is a convicted criminal, and full of his own self importance.

Odd by my standards.

Anyone involved in supporting what is happening to Biden are not the good guys.

Oreo Fri 28-Jun-24 09:00:23

I can barely understand what Biden says at the best of times and this was the worst of times, am sounding like Dickens aren’t I?😁
It was dire from both of them but anyone undecided would think that Trump was the better candidate even if he isn’t!

AGAA4 Fri 28-Jun-24 08:50:25

I only saw the highlights but Biden seemed to be confused and drifted off at one point. It was said he had a cold as he was croaky but really is he fit to be POTUS for another four years? Worryingly the felon Trump is still very much on the ball .
Apparently the Democrats made a quick exit afterwards.

Can Biden not stand down at this late stage? If he died they'd have to find someone else but I guess the deputy is Camala Harris (sp) and sadly Americans aren't ready to elect a woman of colour yet.

Luckygirl3 Fri 28-Jun-24 08:45:14

Whyever would anyone waste a chunk of their lives listening to this!! ????

Grantanow Fri 28-Jun-24 08:45:08

Boden may be competent to govern with the support of his team but I'm not convinced he can win the election, especially if he falters in the September debate.

This is awful for the US, an appalling choice, never mind "Are you two the best we can do?" Whichever one they choose, America will be diminished in the eyes of both allies and the increasingly aggressive dictatorships. In many ways the west looks towards them for strong leadership. I think Biden will have to be replaced, even if he's just a figurehead, his downward descent is just too apparent and makes America look weak.Gavin Newsome's name often appears mooted as a replacement, can he be replaced at this late stage, I've no idea?

I feel so sorry for Biden.
He’s a confused very elderly man, yet he’s in the worlds top job.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 28-Jun-24 07:40:47

I’m not sure I’m brave enough to watch it!

MayBee70 Fri 28-Jun-24 07:39:00

Biden spoke like an old man but what I heard sounded quite sensible. Trump didn’t seem to answer the questions and lied but lied in an energetic way sad

Siope Fri 28-Jun-24 07:33:58

A well conducted interview with these two candidates for President. Much, much better than any interviews our mob put on here

Your media must be truly dire.

encouraged, not enciyraged.

blush

Calendargirl Fri 28-Jun-24 07:12:10

How can Jill Biden let her husband go through with all this? It must do his health no good at all.

Surely she should have enciyraged him to stand down after his four year term, and enjoy retirement?

Oh dear, Joe Biden sounds like a confused old man, not the President of the USA.

Not sounds like, is!

Grannynannywanny Fri 28-Jun-24 07:08:36

The highlights from the BBC website. It’s painful to watch.

Stumbling debate performance worsens age fears for Biden www.bbc.com/news/articles/crgedpw4r5eo

Calendargirl Fri 28-Jun-24 07:04:10

Have just listened to highlights.

Oh dear, Joe Biden sounds like a confused old man, not the President of the USA.

When you think back to the heady days of Obama…,

Allsorts Fri 28-Jun-24 05:50:33

You're brave watching that.

nanna8 Fri 28-Jun-24 03:55:40

A well conducted interview with these two candidates for President. Much, much better than any interviews our mob put on here. The future of America is in one of their hands. God help them. Both slagging each other off on a personal level, one of them lost the plot half way in and both lying through their teeth. Starmer and Sunak are a couple of pleasant, courteous gentlemen compared with them.
