Anyone else feel a sense of impending doom that we’ll have a Labour government tomorrow?

I’d like to feel optimistic that things will improve I really would - I was pleased Blair got in in 97, but this feels different some how?
I’m kind of dreading the next - god knows how many years - under Labour.
Oh well.

Memories are clearly short

I do remember the last Labour government. Nothing wrong with my memory.

Tony Blair got us into a totally unnecessary war!

True but that's the only thing that can be said against him.

PFI.....?

MaizieD bit preoccupied with sorting out my 89 year old friend - am sure Labour will explain it all further down the line…. Unfortunately…..

Not exactly doom but a feeling of embarrassment that flip flopping Starmer could be in charge and, even worse, will have the foul mouthed “gob on a stick” as she is frequently called, alongside him.

Imagine them representing our country with leaders from all nations and then they rock up! 🤮🤮
I will never forget that picture of the two of them taking the knee! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

LOL
I wont forget that either.

Who calls her "gob on a stick"? I haven't seen the description frequently used.

You know better than to rely on biased newspapers for truth Germanshepherdsmum.

So suggest what you consider to be a reliable source then? You and growstuff do this continually.

Don't you like facts?

I asked all those who called (a lot this time and two of them actual candidates), the same questions. The answers were a mix of couldn't say (gender), and blame, housing, immigration and potholes.

I also pointed out that I had emailed (as advised on the leaflets, and tweeted. The answer was, except from one that it was a very busy time at the moment.

Any short coming in the Labour party, any misdemeanors, any rift will be blown up by the press.
Nothing new there then. That’s true whichever party is in power.

Nigel Farage behaves like Mr Toad. And he even looks like a toad.

Thank you for posting …. I do also read other articles but this appears to be a repeated opinion in many .
On another thread someone mentioned contacting local MP if unhappy … I have sent 3 emails in past 6 months no reply , this morning asked why not to a gentleman with red rosette. ‘ email again as have been busy ‘ I had no response 🙈🙈🙈

Keir Starmer and the Labour Party are pretty obviously going to win the election. Not particularly a sense of impending doom as there is far more to life than politics
Certainly don’t have much faith in them either but we will see

Miracles were promised. They will not be delivered.

Miracles haven't been promised - quite the opposite.

They may or may not have been promised but people will expect things to improve quickly.

Any short coming in the Labour party, any misdemeanors, any rift will be blown up by the press. There will not be a honeymoon period for the next parliament.

I don't dread the Labour government.

I don’t rely on any newspaper when I am well able to make up my own mind. I posted the links because obviously HomeAgain had been unable to.

My favourite is Reuters. I also like i, or the Independent for newspapers. For online news, I check out BBC, Sky, ITV, and watch political podcasts - one of my favourite of them is New Statesman. I will read from any source, but not rely on one only.

"Gob on a stick" isn't the most delicate language either.

Many reasons for anyone with their own home and savings to be concerned.

Increases in Council Tax don't only affect home owners.

This nonsense comes from the same Daniel Hannan who assured is all in 2016 the "No-one was talking about leaving the Single Market" For that deception he was awarded a peerage.
