There have been lengthy threads attacking Angela Raynor in the most unpleasant personal ways, not political: I agree Rosie.

It is interesting to see that the opinions of what most of us would see as the centrist part of the Tory party, as represented by Robert Buckland for example, are being ignored by those reported to be fighting for the leadership. We are already seeing unedifying personal attacks on each other by two of the main female contenders. Although I am happy with the election result, I think an effective opposition is an essential part of good governance, yet again the Tories have demonstrated that personality and party is more important than country.

I am definitely a bit right of centre but if Priti Patel, Suella Braverman or Kemi Badenoch become leader I will not rejoin the Conservative Party. (Despite the local Con Club being rather good)

I think that you and your family should rejoin the tory party, GG13, if only to try to prevent the election of a far right leader in any upcoming leadership vote.

Difference of opinion is not an 'unpleasant attack'.

Sunak's heart is not in it, he wants to escape as soon as he possibly can in pursuit of his next glittering prize. He is not used to failure, or leadership for that matter.
But immediately the unpleasant attacks on anyone who thinks of standing.

I thought Sunak has said he will continue for now. What’s the point of an interim leader when they’ve already got one? Sunak has indicated he will stay for now. No need for anyone else.

I read yesterday that they are considering Iain Duncan-Smith as an interim leader so that they can properly consider the way forward. That seems sensible to me, there is time for them to really define what the party will stand for long term before jumping on any bandwagons.

Well, from memory, I think she was only sacked once from a ministerial post whereas Braverman was sacked twice? Which makes her slightly preferable to the latter.
