You know. the Clacton MP who should be showing up for the job he is paid to do.

In the USA apparently paying court to King Trump.

Clacton were sold a pup weren’t they?

A few people (who are noticeable by their absence on this thread) called Angela Rayner many awful things, criticising her accent, her dress sense, her "gobby" attitude. It was distasteful

What has AR got to do with this thread anyway? But if you’re comparing that to criticism of Farage, do you also call it distasteful? Why is it ok to criticise him but not her for instance?Just saying.
He isn’t in the US DiamondLily btw he was in the House Of Commons today.

Frankly, I'm astonished that you have the time and inclination to search for a comment I made nearly three years ago! That says it all really. A very vengeful thing to do, something I would never even think of. And to think you had to go back three years to find something which would fit your argument! 😂😂😂

The moral of this story is that one shouldn't categorically deny writing something you've forgotten about and calling out somebody else as a liar.

DiamondLily Tue 23-Jul-24 17:36:45

Well, he’s in the US at the moment, as a Trump lackey. But, of course, he is still serving his constituents in Clacton:🙄

It’s not a pleasant thing to do is it? So determined to be right I can only guess.I wouldn’t do this, for sure.

I did it because I remembered the comment. I’m blessed with a good memory. It took approximately 10 seconds to type in Chestnut Rayner to the Gransnet search engine. Sorry if it brought home to Chestnut that the pot was calling the kettle black. Whether you think it was a pleasant thing to do or not doesn’t matter, it is a fact that she said it - and there is more if you search, again it would take 10 seconds if you remember the words used.

I can remember things that people said many years ago, especially if I think the comment is wrong and I totally disagree with it.

Yes, Farage made his maiden speech at 15:11. Ten minutes banging on about immigration, criticising former members no longer in the HoC. He ended by calling for a referendum to leave the European Court of Human Rights in order to deport people. Total silence other than from other Reform MPs.

ronib Tue 23-Jul-24 16:39:40

Nigel Farage has just made his maiden speech in the House…..

Oreo Tue 23-Jul-24 16:15:44

He reckons that quite a few Conservative MP’s will join Reform over the coming year, will be interesting to see if that comes true.

Oreo Tue 23-Jul-24 16:14:23

Back to Nigel Farage anyone?

Yes u pleasant but the result of much unpleasantness on the forum recently.

Unpleasant and childish, what a combination.

I’m happy to be hateful about Farage actually because I think being hateful to intentional and unrepentant racists is absolutely justified.

I’m never happy to be hateful about anyone, we’re all different of course.

I'm really pleased you haven't wasted too much of your life searching for things I said years ago! 😂😂😂

Especially as it doesn't actually prove anything because I didn't call AR uncouth and gobby. You have twisted what I said.

End of conversation.

Oreo Tue 23-Jul-24 16:09:22

But, it was growstuff not you who found it and posted it, so you’re claiming it as you when you don’t need to.Odd.🤔

I believe it seems unpleasant to you because you don’t agree with what people say, rather than because it actually is hateful Chestnut. You have to accept that many people dislike his views and just as you called Angela Rayner ‘uncouth and hobby’ you will hear things about Farage that you don’t agree with.

Sorry, gobby not hobby.

Sorry, what? When did I ever call Angela Raynor uncouth and gobby, or anything else for that matter?

You have just made that up to create division and someone has already taken the bait by agreeing with you.

And I don't find the comments hateful because I disagree with them. I have seen many genuinely hateful comments on various people, but especially Farage, and I don't like any of them. None of your post is true, stop putting words or thoughts into my mouth.

I don’t lie Chestnut. I wouldn’t not quote something you didn’t actually say. I told you my interpretation, you don’t agree, which is of course fine.

Well strike me down. I apologise, but in my defence I never said she was uncouth and gobby, or even that I thought she was, I said she comes across as uncouth and gobby, which is not quite the same thing. And if that is the worst thing I've ever said about anyone then I probably deserve a halo compared to the many other vicious attacks on politicians.

However, you have still put words in my mouth by posting what I am thinking which is not true at all.

This should be interesting, but I suspect he will drag his feet.

‘Farage made a last-minute decision to run as an MP. He may not have been aware, when he did, that the parliamentary authorities require him to account for “registerable benefits – other than earnings – received in the 12 months BEFORE their election”.’
