You know. the Clacton MP who should be showing up for the job he is paid to do.

In the USA apparently paying court to King Trump.

Clacton were sold a pup weren’t they?

I believe it seems unpleasant to you because you don’t agree with what people say, rather than because it actually is hateful Chestnut. You have to accept that many people dislike his views and just as you called Angela Rayner ‘uncouth and hobby’ you will hear things about Farage that you don’t agree with.

That's it, in a nutshell.

As for me, I don't post personal comments about an individual politician's appearance because I think that's below the belt - however much I might dislike them.

... and, it is dislike - not hatred, the two are quite different.

I would like to see both Trump and Farage disappear from the political scene, just quietly retire into the background. I didn't rejoice when Farage was injured in that light aircraft crash, nor when Trump was hit by the would-be assassin's bullet. That would be hatred.

But I loathe what they stand for. As they are both at the moment very much in the public eye via the media, what they say (and do) is as far as I am concerned up for discussion, and opposition. Or perhaps they should be free to say and do whatever they wish and we critics remain silent?

As a woman, I am going to challenge both of these men.

Trump took the credit for overturning Roe v Wade. "For 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade terminated, and I did it. And I'm proud to have done it.". The reality is of course that the Supreme Court made the actual decision - Trump appointed the justices who made that decision.

Farage has championed the self-proclaimed misogynist, Andrew Tate, as a role model for young men.

I believe both of these men, Trump and Farage, are a danger to the hard-fought-for rights of women. In fact, I believe they both hold women - especially those with an opinion - in low esteem.

So I shall continue to comment.

Have to say tbf I haven’t ever heard Nigel Farage say racist things, or xenophobic either.Isn’t his wife German?
Yeah he says things about too much immigration and wants, as millions of us do , including the Labour government, something done to stop the boats.

No, his second wife is/was German, they are separated and his current squeeze is Laure Ferrari who I believe is French.

But really that's how it comes across, people firing off hateful remarks when they get the chance. And yes, many of them are very hateful. I just say what I see. I don't post nasty venomous things about any politician myself so it all seems very unpleasant, especially when other posters get caught in the firing line.

nanna8 I love how you stick your head above the parapet to express an opinion because there is an army of Farage haters here just waiting to shoot! They are looking for a new target all the time. If Farage says something new, or someone like you says something, then that's a new target and they can fire off a round of bullets. 😂

Yes, we're just an army of haters who love to hate for the sake of hating.

Give it a rest.

Holding a politician to account for the things they say and the things they do is not something peculiar, nor is it the preserve of those on the left of politics.

It's tiresome hearing the word "hate" bandied over criticism of Farage - or anyone else for that matter - but up it pops again and again. No doubt in order to invalidate the criticism.

Wyllow3 Tue 23-Jul-24 11:03:43

I doubt that Farage's remarks will be widely publicised in the USA (it's not in MSM as far as I can see). but I'm just imagining the furore that might have developed if he had said of Vance's wife "Black Indian Woman" ie another remark not acknowledging American citizenship and values.

I still stand by what I think. I really don’t get why Kamala Harris’s background should be highlighted. Just why ? Where I live no one gives two hoots where anyone came from and I would have thought a big country like the US with many peoples from all over the world wouldn’t care, either. Farage I have listened to many times and I have never heard him say anything racist at all. Not to say that some of his adherents, real or imagined, haven’t. I wouldn’t know that because I don’t listen to those people or even know who they are. As for being a woman user, not many weren’t/ aren’t in politics. Both sides. Thinking of Clinton, JFK, Johnson, the list goes on. I don’t mind the ‘first’ for me being called naive . Loud laugh - you don’t know me at all, thank goodness ( or my background)

I still stand by what I think. I really don’t get why Kamala Harris’s background should be highlighted.

Then surely you will question why Nigel Farage highlighted it?

It seems that the people who would defend him have precious little evidence with which to do so, which means the bullets, based on evidence, will keep on coming.

Interesting yesterday.

There was a debate about immigration, with Cooper laying into the previous governments failures.

You would have thought that this was right up Farage’s street.

Nowhere to be seen.

Elusive isn’t he?

I noticed his absence - so much for the much repeated expectation that some had that he would “hold Labour’s feet to the fire” on immigration and asylum seekers.

I did note Anderson asking a completely fatuous question which highlighted how hopeless Reform’s only proposal on preventing the smugglers is.

MayBee70 Tue 23-Jul-24 10:16:41

Anything Farage does won’t affect nanna8 anyway will it so she can like him from afar with no concerns about what he and his so called political party will do to her country.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 23-Jul-24 10:10:56

I find it a tad difficult to understand you nanna8 as I know you are opposed to Trump, with his racist, misogynistic rhetoric and xenophobia. Farage is out of the exact same school.

There isn’t a cigarette paper between them.

It appears to be a fact that many Australians think

Where I live no one gives two hoots where anyone came from

but thinking somewhere doesn’t have a problem with racism doesn’t make it true

Oh for goodness sake, a racist bigot because someone doesn't know the convoluted details of someone else's heritage.

No, because he is
A) racist
And
B) a bigot

(The duck test—"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck")

Iam64 Tue 23-Jul-24 08:22:41

nanna8 - Kamala Harris’s racial background is relevant, as is the fact she’s a woman.
We all may wish it wasn’t so but wishes don’t make reality

Vintagewhine Tue 23-Jul-24 08:06:03

Of course Farage is racist. It's the only card in his pack and he plays it constantly, he's a master at disguising it to make his comments appear acceptable. Farage made immigration the central plank of his pledges yet he wasn't even in the H of C when immigration was discussed! Says it all really.

Casdon Tue 23-Jul-24 07:21:22

Why do you think Farage said what he did then nanna8? If it’s not relevant, and he didn’t know her background, and given that she is visibly not a black African lady, why did he say she was?

nanna8 Tue 23-Jul-24 07:11:06

Growstuff I totally agree with your post I think some people just tuck that away …. Enoch Powell was his idol
He also has a terrible record as a ‘woman user’ here’s one of his quotes talking about women not being as useful as men in the workplace he concluded by saying : “Maybe it’s because I’ve got so many women pregnant over the years that I have a different view [of maternity leave].”

No *Nana8’ I m not shameful I m just an ordinary person with ordinary views but I do recognise anyone who says the things he has said, has no filter and could be a danger to any country
( he also has said he admires Putin )

growstuff Tue 23-Jul-24 02:51:23

I disagree with you nanna8. Farage has said too many things which are definitely racist. I'm afraid I think that somebody who says racist things is racist. I'm not really sure what you think that says about me for seeing the evidence before my eyes - I certainly don't think it's shameful. I think you're being incredibly naive if you can't see what he meant by his comment about Kamala Harris.

nanna8 Tue 23-Jul-24 02:22:20

I actually think Farage is not racist. Some of his followers may well be but I don’t think he is at all. People like to throw that accusation around when they don’t like or agree with someone. Shameful and says more about them than the person they are castigating. As for Kamala Harris’s background, why is it an issue ? Again, it says more about those highlighting it .

maddyone Mon 22-Jul-24 23:33:37

Her father is of African Jamaican heritage……her mother Tamil Indian heritage.

Thank you, I didn’t know that. Having just seen her on television this evening, I could observe that she was unlikely to be African American. I could see that she’s of mixed race.
Not that it matters one jot. She’s a woman and mixed race. I hope she gets to be president. The first female American President. And the second mixed race American President. 🤞
