Apparently, for being Nigel Farage’s son!!

It is not foreign banks closing accounts or refusing to open one, as per for you friends, but UK Banks!
From MoneySavingsExperts '
At least 10 banks, building societies and credit card firms have now decided to close accounts held by Brits living abroad in Europe as a result of Brexit, MoneySavingExpert.com has found – with Nationwide and Co-op Bank among the latest to announce closures. We've full info below on what banks are doing, plus help on what to do if you're affected.
We first asked banks in September whether they planned to close accounts for customers living in the European Economic Area (EEA) – which is the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. At the time, just five told us they had plans to do so, but two months down the line, more have followed suit, while others are continuing to monitor the situation and haven't ruled out closing accounts in future.
See our table below, showing the latest on who's doing what. If your account is closed, you may still be able to open another with a different UK bank or with a bank in the country you're in instead. We've more help below – for info on how else Brexit will affect your finances and consumer rights, see our 21 Brexit need-to-knows.
Which banks are closing expat accounts?
We've rounded up below the latest info from all the major banks, plus some smaller players such as Cynergy and Danske Bank that have now confirmed they're closing accounts.
We don't know how many expats will be affected by the closures, though Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland said in September they planned to close 13,000 accounts in total. As other banks to announce closures haven't given figures, it's likely the total number affected will be significantly higher, and 100,000s of Brits are known to currently live in Europe.'
I am so pleased for them We have not encountered problems, and neither have you. Which does not means thousands have. Why even begin to deny this?
Fleurpepper we have friends who purchased property in Spain two years ago. They have opened a Spanish bank account to pay communidad, utilities, insurance, etc.
They didn’t encounter any problems.
Not sure that system could work Cossy. Parliament often goes on very late into the evening, so MPs do need a London base, they couldn’t travel 4 hours back to Leeds, or wherever after a session, to then travel back the next day for more. It would be a sitting target if they all lived in one block of flats, but I presume the amount they can claim is capped to the level of a one bedroom flat, so they can live wherever in London to that amount?
I do agree with them living in their constituency once elected, I don’t know how else they can properly represent their constituents. It must be quite an upheaval for their wives and families to move to the constituency, but that has to be the price they pay if they stand for an area they don’t already live in. I know my own MP moved here from outside the area.
I think they should live in their constituency before even being elected as an MP
I know that’s old fashioned 🤷♀️

All MPs have a fully funded second home in their constituency, or if they choose, in London.
Is there a reason why you think Farage should be different?
I actually don’t agree with this entire principal for ANY MP!
IMO the govt should purchase apartments and have them close to Westminster which should be allocated to any MP whose constituency is more than 4 hours away from Westminster. All the others can commute!

Of course, so do I- where on earth did I accuse anyone of lying?
We do- my bank and OH's Bank have not closed our accounts. But some banks have, and have made peoples lives very difficult. I trust you had those accounts before Brexit.Had the account before UK and Spain joined the EU.
So before Brexit- that is the whole point. Brexit HAS changed a lot of things, I am sure you know that.
We too btw.

I too think Mr Farage should not be on GB news now, but in his constituency working hard, or on the train for the relatively short journey into Westminster.
According to one of my close friends, Farage is seeking a rental home in Frinton (no doubt fully funded) and has already been accepted into Frinton Cricket Club, just behind her home, which was one of her fav haunts!

Fleurpepper I know numerous people who have U.K. and Spanish bank accounts, I also know people who have U.K. and Portuguese bank accounts.
I am not in the habit of lying.

Our family has had one foot in U.K. and one foot in Spain from 11 years before Spain joined the EU until now.
Had an English and Spanish Bank Account simples.
Not simple at all. Many banks allow you to keep a UK bank account if you live abroad- but some have decided to close accounts for those living in the EU. Some will allow you to keep an account after you moved to EU, but some will not.
If you move abroad and your account is closed, it is very difficult to open a new one once not resident. Simple it is not, and thousands have found themselves in real difficulty.
According to Wiki this is his partner now, he is separated from his German wife (allegedly) Laure Ferrari
I can't believe I am posting this but Nigel Farage has two grown up sons with his first wife who was Irish I believe and he has two daughters with his current wife (aren't they separated?) who is German
Selective, perhaps.....
So, is it possible that Master Farage has lost banking rights because of where he lives, rather than his parent?
Is Mr Farage being a little untruthful ...?

If British people can’t have a British bank account because they live abroad, then they need to do what my daughter did when she moved to New Zealand - open a bank account in the country they live in.
Easier said than done. If you work there, that is fine. But in many cases, those people are on UK pensions which have to be paid into UK Bank Account before transfer, and losing UK Bank account becomes a real nightmare.
Brits in EU risk losing UK bank accounts
Brits in EU risk losing UK bank accounts. Tens of thousands of British expats who live in Europe run the risk of having their UK bank accounts closed 'in weeks' due to post-Brexit rules.
Lloyds, Barclays and Coutts are among the UK banks starting to give notice to expats to warn their accounts will be closed at 11pm on December 31.
The government has not yet negotiated post-Brexit banking rules so the current regulations will not apply. Stalemate between Britain and Europe in ongoing talks over Brexit has left it a "bureaucratic nightmare" for UK banks to provide services to Brits living abroad.
Banks are making their own decisions as to which EU countries to pull out of and which to continue operating in.
State pensions can be paid directly into a foreign bank account. My DH's is but mine is paid into our Lloyds current account in the UK. I have not had notice that our Lloyds accounts will be closed.
Maddy0ne Do you think that those of us who live abroad do not have a bank account in the country in which we live?
We are not that stupid. It's very easy to transfer money if you do internet banking.

I thought this debanking malarkey had been stopped by the Financial Conduct Aurthority? It is obviously continuing. And is pretty scary for those it affects I imagine. No one can function in this world without a bank account! And who are these banks to just cancel people?
Well they have 'de-banked' 100s of 1000s of British people living in EU, because of Brexit.
Well if they live in Europe (the EU is it a country just a bureaucratic non accountable nightmare) then surely they’d open bank accounts there. My sister did in Estapona. It was straightforward.
Btw has the EU had its accounts signed off yet? They hadn’t been audited satisfactorily for years last time I checked.
The latest date I could find was 2020 - the 14th year of being satisfactorily signed off.
Perhaps Farage's son is with Coutts, like his dad?
Key is to know where the two sons with German nationality live.

Some of the UK banks closed the accounts of UK citizens living in the EU because of Brexit. Our pensions come from the UK and are paid into our UK accounts and then we transfer them. Fortunately our bank was not one of the ones that closed accounts. No idea about NF's son, but sounds like there must be more to the story.
Two of his sons have German nationality and passports, as their mother is German. Where do they live? If they live abroad, in Germany or other EU, then it would be quite 'normal' for them to lose their UK accounts, just as thousands of British 'expats' have since Brexit.
