A disporportionate reaction it seems. It makes me wonder what happens when there are no filming taking place.

I've just been watching a horrifying attack on police, pushing, kicking, and more, similar to attack on video we've seen. Two with serious facial injuries. Number of officers assaulted. Pepper spray. "Regular occurrence, just not on this scale"

It's in Grimsby, mainstream TV, "New Police, Suspect No 1".

What are you talking about Mt61? Who is brushing what under which carpet

With respect and kindness, I don't see the point. The sad ness is unbearable right now.

No! we will brush it under the carpet shall we?

I don’t think its that we are older - it does feel more violence surrounds us

I wonder why that is?

I read gransnet, occasionally mumsnet, the guardian, dm on line and listen to radio 4. I watch ch4 news and sometimes bbc and sky. I’m disappointed with tv bbc news since it was 24/7 as it doesn’t seem to do detail

With regard to what is being said on social media, I have no idea about that because apart from GN I don’t read social media. I do have Facebook (haven’t looked at it today) but because I follow only my close friends and family and absolutely nothing political, I don’t find myself bothered by any comments about events such as this. I have never done Twitter/X because I believe it to be a flatform for vile verbal attacks on other people and I will never use it.

Me neither unless it's a link on here.

I’m the same as you maddyone hence why I often don’t know what people are posting about 😳

I think it is relevant to trace a "how it begun" using as reliable sources as possible, because the key videos show only what happened at the end, and judgments here and in the media and SM -

and the hatred in SM is absolutely appalling along the lines of "they (Asian British) are all the same and should be sent home" (and a great deal worse) are being made on the basis of those events only.

Hundred of people arrive in an airport every day and incidents like this are very rare. There had to be a trigger and we know there was a build up following that.

I think there is a difference between wild speculation and trying to understand.

Trying to understand doesn’t include us, or anyone else, talking about what happened in the aeroplane, the coffee shop, or the baggage hall, because we don’t know. It may well be helpful to our understanding to know, but the fact is that we don’t know, so no point in either speculating or repeating hearsay.

I take your point but it just seems so wrong to ignore it.

I know this is the wrong thread but I can’t start a new one. Children have been stabbed in Southport - major incident. Please can someone start a thread.

Female officers must not be marginalised as they were in the early dark ages. Men have greater strength but a taser is efficient whoever uses it

I agree but in this case the two thugs were on them and had done a lot of damage before there was a chance for the taser to be used.
I would like to see more female officers in the police force but I am aware that in some situations they are at a disadvantage.

The men in this case were extremely violent men, glad they’re not my sons!
To be so quick about punching police officers repeatedly as they did shows what kind they are.

If the police at Airports are armed, at what point are they allowed to draw and even use their firearms?

No idea, but possibly where a criminal is gun or knife toting or has an explosive device?

Turned the tv on for the Olympics and there’s been multiple stabbing on young children in Southport.

What on earth is happening. I hope they all survive. Just terrible.
