I wondered if he found it difficult going through the men’s menopause.
I say this because a dear older couple than myself were our neighbours while the lads were young. The couple loved each other a lot but the man changed when he was in his mid to late 50s. His wife, who had been a nurse, mentioned it was due to going through the men’s’ menopause. He kept trying to get me into his garden mentioning that his wife wouldn’t know. He also tried to get into my house which was definitely not like the man I once knew who had a great career.

Many men who are sexually attracted to children / adolescents are successful, likable, intelligent and seem empathic. I often wonder if they manage to separate their professional persona from their darker side. Maybe of course, they’re skilled actors, manipulators and deceivers.
I’d liked the head teacher at my children’s primary school. He ran a very happy, successful school. I stopped liking him when it was confirmed he’d sexually abused 6-7 year old girls at his previous school, as well as at ours. One of his victims was in my daughter’s year, a vulnerable child with a difficult background. We are in a ‘middle class’ area as was his previous school. He targeted ‘vulnerable’ girls there.

But sometimes there is a delay between out reality and the new reality.

Anniebach We can be very fond of someone, socialise with them without ever realising they have a dark side, sometimes in plain sight.

After that the fondness turns to incredulity and loathing.

Anniebach Surely emotions are private you said several had spoken of their shock at the revelations, surely shock is an emotion? I never suggested NW should shout from the rooftops any other emotions such as dismay, disgust and repulsion, I merely said I hoped he felt those too.

Yes it's sad and disappointing when someone went thought was ok turns out not to be.

Annie there are bad people or people using poor judgements in all walks of life and all countries I understand your difficulty in seeing Huw Edwards as an abusive male hes from your area you ve met him and found him charming but Annie that doesn’t make him innocent
I am sorry that you are having to see this and I understand your difficulties but what has happened has happened and we can’t undo his bad behaviour

Sad for those children who are being abused, the family of Huw, the rest of us brought up to respect such characters.

I think that’s the nub of it. It’s easy to be wise after the event, to say there were rumours, to say somebody had funny eyes, or whatever. The truth is that people who have bad secrets are very often masters of disguise.

I can understand them being shocked if they had no idea, but I'd hope they are also disgusted, dismayed and repulsed. Countless children suffering abominable abuse, past present and future, to satisfy the perverted wants of men like HE.

We certainly do not want anyone emotional reading the news
