I am shocked and horrified reading through this list in the Guardian newspaper.

What is happening to our men that they control, abuse and kill the very women who they should be protecting.

TR isn’t real. It’s a persona to gain power, control and be disruptive and violent

Andrew Tate and his brother aren’t real either
It’s all to do with violence (and porn)

They are destructive force none the less but they are the puppets. Who is the Grand Master?

OnwardandUpward Tue 20-Aug-24 20:31:49

Can you explain, Jane?

JaneJudge Tue 20-Aug-24 20:30:51

It’s all not real either but so is a lot of the other stuff we buy into. We are conned really as a society during our visual consumption

OnwardandUpward Tue 20-Aug-24 20:27:03

They probably know a lot of men very well, seeing as they sell classes online of how to be as "successful" as them.

It's horrendous.

JaneJudge Tue 20-Aug-24 20:25:04

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Tates know TR 🤷‍♀️

OnwardandUpward Tue 20-Aug-24 20:21:16

I meant to end with "IS it really believable that AT is really Muslim?"

OnwardandUpward Tue 20-Aug-24 20:20:23

I thought the UK might extradite him to face charges here?

How disturbing that NF sees AT as a good role model. Apparently AT has just converted to Islam. I'm not sure I believe it, seeing as he was anti Muslim before.

Andrew Tate's brother Tristan Tate, is among those to have donated to the crowdfunder for Dominic Capaldi (the disgraced Bristol Rioter who was jailed for hate crimes) So does that mean the Tates support the riots?

Bearing in mind a mosque was attacked, it believable that AT is really Muslim.

JaneJudge Tue 20-Aug-24 20:07:30

That’s good to hear re the police and cps

Tate moved to Romania so he could rape women ffs what a role model

Lyndie Tue 20-Aug-24 19:53:22

I am working in a magistrates court and most cases that come through are domestic violence. Victims have help from IDVAs. They can use live link or screens if they feel intimidated by the defendant and help from people like me from the Witness Service. They are often moved to where the Defendant doesn't know. They get restraining orders. The Police and CPS are taking DV very seriously.

Iam64 Tue 20-Aug-24 19:52:23

We shouldn’t forget that Mr Farage sees Andrew Taite as a good role model for boys and young men

Wyllow3 Tue 20-Aug-24 14:03:12

I'm unsure of Tate's status atm as regards extradition. anyone know?

I did google and found he is banned from several SM platforms but guess what....

under Elon Musk, he has been reinstated on X to spread his poison, and I dont know what can be done about him as he won't return to the UK.

And the example set by people like Andrew Tate and his brother is shocking. He is actively promoting violence towards women and has a following among young boy and men.

I believe Andrew Tate runs a course for young men, which they have to pay for. I read somewhere that Andrew Tate has a daughter.sad

Amazon openly sells a misogynistic book entitled 'Why women deserve less' among other similar titles.

If you enter the term 'feminism' on Youtube a load of questionable stuff that is definitely anti-feminist comes up as well people like Emma Watson.

Sorry all this is a bit random and off topic.confused

Yes I was reading about him this morning.

Apparently if a woman looks at or talks to another man she should recieve injuries, while if a man has "relations" with another women it is "exercise".

It's so devastatingly terrible. I have only just realised how he's radicalising our young men. sad

No PaperMonster and on Monday a mother and her young daughter were stabbed by a man while shopping in Leicester Square (the child was held in a headlock and stabbed 11 times) thankfully she survived and has been treated. Complete stranger to them apparently. Just beyond shocking.

PaperMonster Wed 14-Aug-24 22:11:39

This is just a devastating list - the BBC chap’s wife and daughters aren’t on that list I noted.

Jackiest Wed 14-Aug-24 21:42:34

Being stronger gives you more chance to murder someone. If a 10 stone woman gets angry at a 15 stone man and goes to attack him it won't have much effect but if a 15 stone man gets angry at a 10 stone woman and attacks her he can easily kill her.

Babs03 Wed 14-Aug-24 20:39:37

Sorry just to clear this up he conversation was on the phone, not face to face.

Babs03 Wed 14-Aug-24 20:39:03

I was returning from Brighton on the train and overheard a horrible conversation between a young man and a young woman I can only imagine was unfortunate enough to be his girlfriend, his language was peppered the 'f' word and the 'c' word, apparently his girlfriend had displeased him in some way and he repeatedly said he would give her a slap.
As I listened I wished I could do something but the young man was enraged and I could hardly confront him, others who overheard this looked similarly concerned. Eventually he got off several stops before mine.
The very fact he felt at ease having this conversation in public speaks volumes, he must mix with similarly minded young men or older male role models.
I got off the train feeling ashamed and diminished wishing I could have done something, obvs his young girlfriend would have some kind physical punishment meted out.

Sparklefizz - I’m so pleased you did it. Got out. I left my first husband having felt lonely and not liked, criticised etc. It’s a long tine since 1980 and it took me a while to accept, not only did we not bring the best out in each other - he was a cold, manipulative individual with a handsome facade that covered his capacity for attempting to control me. He raged about ‘you and your bloody feminist friends’. The older I get, the more I value whatever helped me know I had to leave

I don't think men commit more murders just because they are stronger. When men use (illegal) anabolic steroids to enhance performance / build muscle, one of the problems is rage & violence as a side-effect. Testosterone is an anabolic steroid. One reason why farm animals are castrated is to make them safer to handle.
I agree DV has always happened, but often it was alcohol-induced, now I have the impression more men are more angry, less kind, than in former days. Boys used to be taught it was taboo for a man to hit a woman. Now there are so many things you are not supposed to do, & so many different voices out there with different messages, has this got watered down?

Galaxy Wed 14-Aug-24 20:06:34

I agree, they are generally just bog standard men. I thought the age range of the women was different to what I expected, there were a significant amount of older women in that list.

Iam64 Wed 14-Aug-24 19:59:14

Jess Phillips has been a beacon in her attempts to ensure violence against women (and children) remains acknowledged.

The Guardian article reminded me why I used to be a Guardian reader. The photographs of those 50 women along with the tributes from their loved ones gave a moving and human view of these murdered women.
Three a week this year- it’s been two a week for many years

I agree closing the big mh institutions without significantly improving community mh services was (as predicted) problematic. In reality the vast majority of the murderers here would never have been in those institutions=they’re ‘ordinary ‘

I am of the opinion that the mass closure of the big mental hospitals was a big mistake.
They kept the majority of those who were a potential danger either to themselves or others under observation and possibly enforced treatment.
I am quite well aware of the tragic injustice of other people detained for decade after decade who should not have been even admitted in the first place and became institutionalised.

However it was a naive notion (driven mostly by the need to “save” money) that all the different types of mental illness could be accommodated in the community.

These are my sentiments too. Closing all mental health facilities - babies and bath water come to mind.

Jess Phillips MP, has been reading out the list of women killed by men, in the HOC, on every International Women's Day for the last 5 years. It is called 'Counting Dead Women'. It takes at least 7.5 minutes to read the list.
On average one woman is killed by a man every 2 days.

The Femicide Census collects the data, and is a unique source of information about the women who have been killed by men in the UK, and the men who have killed them.

TerriBull Wed 14-Aug-24 17:17:36

Another related alarming statistic. The Times have reported attacks on the railways against women and girls are up by 50% from 2021 to over 11,000 last year.I believe the women only compartments were done away with and there was some sort of hoo haa as to whether they were needed or not, given the vulnerability of women travelling alone, I'd say they are.
