I had a good laugh at this prank in Beccles (I think) It ranks, IMO with those lovely Dead Ringer sketches if you’ve heard them.
However, blaming the Far Left (as opposed to the p*ss takers) she was NOT amused.

Lettuce stop taking the p*ss, . This kind of micky taking is only the tip of the iceberg. Just because she changed her mind from romaine to leaves. Time we appreciated what a little gem she is

Yes, I read this, unbelievable- even if true - if you see what I mean!

I think a day of public rejoicing should be announced and all church bells rung that the Truss/Boateng administration collapsed as fast as it did.

Grantanow Thu 29-Aug-24 09:44:05

Most newspapers reported that Truss considered ending NHS cancer treatment to save money. Was that true?

If there’s one thing better than being called “low” it’s being called “common” ! gringrin

Happy to be both in this case.

But they don't 'Tell it as it is'.

Freya The only reason Truss and Kwarteng did not crash the economy was because they were booted out before they could, but as Maerion showed the foundations were crumbling and the crash was imminent when they were booted out and at the last moment wiser minds took over and managed to shore up the economy and do the repairs.

Cadeby Sat 17-Aug-24 19:15:55

Maerion

You must be kidding, Freya. Let’s look at what happened in the wake of Truss and Kwarteng’s budget:

The Bank of England triggered an emergency £65bn bond-buying programme to stem the crisis triggered by Truss and Kwarteng’s growth plan, which put entire pension funds at risk of insolvency.

The cost of UK government borrowing surged. The yields on 10-year gilts surged rising from 3.5% to 4.3% before falling back to about 4.05% after the Bank of England’s intervention.. Rising bond yields suggest a lack of willingness among investors to own the debt, as buyers demand a lower price to buy them.

The British Retail Consortium revealed food price inflation surged again to 10.6%, compared with an already staggering 9.3% in the previous month.

The FTSE 100 fell by 232 points as jittery investors took flight.

The pound fell to a record low of 1.03 against the US dollar after Kwarteng doubled down on his £45bn package of tax cuts by pledging to go further.

Spooked lenders withdrew 1,621 mortgage products from the market amid uncertainty over the future trajectory of base rates and the lack of faith in the government’s plan.

Oh dear, you seem to have come up with some rather unpopular facts there.

I have asked fans of LT, Trump and Farage to share what thy admire about these people.
Nobody seems able to come up with anything other than " Tells it as it is"

Oh yes, she di. Freya, which planet do you live on ?!?

One might wonder if she is on the autistic spectrum? She has absolutely no empathy or awareness of the situation of many due to her mistakes, and a total lack of understanding of how she is viewed by others. I don't think she has a sense of humour at all, unless wearing a green dress was meant to be a side-step of a joke?

Often think that. She is not quite 'right' is she (even she is very much on the right).

Pranks devised by four upperclass pratts in a pub in Stoke Newington.
Absolutely pathetic, and no she didn't crash the economy, her plans were not put into Action.

Cadeby Sat 17-Aug-24 18:35:08

Do you remember Theresa May? She tried to show a human side I think, worked very hard and looked professional.

I think some of the comments on AR were beyond the pale tbh.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Aug-24 18:32:41

I don't recall Angela Rayner 'crashing the economy' nor selling her memoirs and promoting Trump

Cadeby Sat 17-Aug-24 18:32:13

eazybee

Staged by 'led by Donkeys' and clearly aimed at the lowest common denominator.

Its fun to be both sometimes!

merlotgran Sat 17-Aug-24 18:29:35

Am I the only one who is wondering why there was an outcry when Angela Rayner was criticised. Posts were reported/deleted and it’s rumoured that one poster was banned as a result?

Liz Truss is fair game though. I haven’t seen one single post reminding her jeering detractors that she is human.

I’m not a fan. She was totally unsuitable for the post as PM but It must be truly awful to have to endure the constant mockery.

Nannapat1 Sat 17-Aug-24 16:25:53

Like cc, I wonder if she is neurodiverse: it would explain a lot although nothing explains satisfactorily why she was chosen by the Conservative party as leader.
I thought that the banner incident was funny and also Hignfy's FB post on it!

She is going to have to learn to laugh at herself. If she can’t do that she is not going anywhere career wise from now on.

I think this is the key. A clever quip would have gained respect.

But heck, didnt she really just love it really? As an attention seeker.....

Jaye53 Sat 17-Aug-24 12:44:17

Ghastly woman.

Grantanow Sat 17-Aug-24 12:08:15

Lettuce Truss : sounds rather like one of Elizabeth I's Ladies in Waiting, Lettice Knollys, a Countess twice over.

polly123 Sat 17-Aug-24 12:03:17

Absolutely awful woman.

2oaktrees Sat 17-Aug-24 11:51:06

When she was turning to look she nearly did a 'Sharon Stone'

Maremia Sat 17-Aug-24 11:45:14

Well done Led by Donkeys

Casdon Sat 17-Aug-24 11:41:59

lamusica Sat 17-Aug-24 11:37:21

She should be in prison, not strutting her stuff on the world stage. How do people like her get away with it? 🤔

Tobacco Sat 17-Aug-24 11:31:30

She said ""Far-left activists disrupted the event" and "Would we see the same reaction if the activists were far-right?"
Well the far right were recently attacking mosques, the police and hotels with asylum seekers in them. People displaying a lettuce poster is not quite in the same league!

specki4eyes Sat 17-Aug-24 11:28:56

She's an idiot, not only doesn't she know she's an idiot, she thinks the word 'idiot' describes a very clever person, therefore she prances around looking smug, until she gets offended, then she stalks off to sulk.
I used to be comfortably off, having retired from a successful business. Now, thanks to Lettuce and Bojo the Clown et al and 14 years of their idiocy, I'm counting the pennies again.

Did anyone else see the survey that showed that the vast majority, not just of the electorate, but Conservative party members couldn't care less who their next leader is.

Possibly because it's pretty obvious that they will not be in power for some years to come.
