Really Cardriver no one who received private health care died ?
ALPHABETICAL FOOD AND DRINK (Jan 26)
Heartbreaking, yet inspiring at the same time.
The little daughter clinging to her mum fir dear life.
Really Cardriver no one who received private health care died ?
Yes, it's inspiring and I'm sure that it will hearten people.
However, I think it should be pointed out, that many people are not nearly so fortunate.
The Princess is in a very privileged position, with the best of care, doctors, facilities etc. There are many in this country who do not and never will have, access to those benefits.
I am pleased that things are going well for her - but if she was just an ordinary individual, things could and possibly would be entirely different.

When we watched the video, I said to my husband 'Wasn't that lovely?'. He said 'Yes but let's see how much flack she gets from some.'
I thought that as well. Sad but it was bound to happen.
Unbelievable, and her "ordinariess" is what is restored as much to a battered monarchy (yes, Harry and Andrew, I mean you!)

Cancer has been a constant thread through our family, and I have nothing but praise for the NHS, McMillan and others.
It’s a hard and long road, which is different for everyone, if this short film gives hope and/or comfort to just one person than that is good.
Pleb that I presumably am, I would soak up any good news for anyone suffering from this awful disease.
However, most of us, or our nearest and dearest, are not globally known, constantly in the public eye with the press scrutinising, questioning and honing in on their every move.
I don't know any of you on here personally, or your sons, daughters or any others in your circle. If I did, I would be equally as happy for them.

I'm not a fan of the royal family but as she is a mother I do wish her well in her return to wellness. However, she will be entitled to the absolute best medical care in the world, unlike most of us meare mortals! 🙄
I had excellent care when I had cancer from all the medical staff. I don't believe I had second rate care because I was an ordinary person.
From critics here
Husband kissing wife and parents cuddling their children brought thoughts of sanitary pads and tampons
Husband with bald head kissing his wife brought thoughts of
a married woman having her toes sucked by a lover.
And as always ‘she has wealth.’
Plus, Catherine has young children, and a positive message is so important!
Well Paddyann, I’m sure that some people have the cancer journey you describe, sadly, but I will say not all, by any stretch. It might be to do with where you live (postcode lottery), it might not. I can only go on the experience our family has/is going through. My brother in law, by no means wealthy and by no means from a privileged background (though I suppose that could depend upon how you define ‘privileged’, what I mean in this case is he’s not from an upper class, wealthy background). He was diagnosed with cancer in March. His chemo began in June, and his surgery was completed a few weeks ago. His treatment and care has been exemplary, all done on the NHS, and surgery carried out by an excellent surgeon. His care is going to be ongoing for some time to come.
Also another poster who suggests that only the exceedingly wealthy get seen quickly and treated by “the best” of the best (an insult to all highly qualified, dedicated medical staff by inferring that they are somehow not “the best” if they don’t deal with the extremely wealthy, in my view), is not always true.
You might not agree with the video, paddyann, but I’m assuming it was done to perhaps quell further speculation from the media as to Catherine’s well being. I, personally, felt uncomfortable by some of it (not all), but I think it was done with the best of intentions. Whatever they do, they are critisised - either we’re told not enough or too much in some people’s eyes. I’m afraid I also find your remarks about “plebs” and “sponges soaking it up” rather tedious (but predictable) and insulting.

The Princess of Wales is. mortal

Of course we are all glad she is doing well but I could have done without the cheesy film and the pictures of the children. They don’t need to be in the public eye.
I wish they had edited out the bit where William kisses Kate while she is lying on a blanket. The sight of his bald head reminded me of Fergie having her toes sucked and Charlotte’s expression was priceless! 😂
I thought the film and the family were lovely. I've been in her situation myself and I shed a tear for her and for all of us who've gone through it.
Paddyanne you speak as you find. I don’t think your post was nasty in any way. Reality is indeed different for most of us in many ways, compared to royalty - pressures of mortgages or rent to find impacts on well being just as much as chemotherapy treatment. It’s a sad fact of life. We are not all equal, it’s not possible. Doesn’t mean we can’t be happy for Catherine and her family. Cancer is a great leveller. It pulls the rug from under the feet in any family, rich or poor. If it was just a matter of ‘money’ then Linda McCartney (and others) would still be here.
Best wishes to ALL coping with this bluddy frightening disease.

escaped seems for some it’s too difficult to be pleased if the cancer sufferer has wealth
Even if you're not a royal fan, I think it is wrong to take a pop at the Princess of Wales just because of who she is. I've read this sort of mean comment before on gransnet about Dame Deborah James, Bowelbabe, just because she was nice and pretty. So what?
I think Catherine chose the mini film because the Mother's Day smiley photo backfired, and the video back in March about her condition was very gloomy. Can't we all agree to be pleased for anyone who has undergone successful treatment, however they wish to convey their news or not?
Three children playing made you think of monthly periods
MOnica ?
I am not a royalist - I can take them or leave them. However, to say that just because one mum is back at work and working long hours doesn't mean that everyone is the same. No one knows what cancer Catherine had. She could have had multiple cancers for all we know.
Right, now I am about to really throw the cat among the pigeons.
I thought the video was absolutely gruesome. It was saccharin and soppy and I kept waiting for text on the screen to show that it was really an advert for sanitary products.
I have every respect for the Prince and Princess of Wales and their family, so I am not having a dig at them in any way, but the video had me reaching for the sick bag.
You can't help yourself can you paddyanne any chance to have a dig at the royals and you're there with your shovel 😏
