Whoops!

My daughter regularly works at the county court and the ushers regularly tell people to be careful with their belongings as “ remember there are criminals here “ which I think is quite amusing.

I heard that at the same conference a barrister had his wig stolen. Police are now combing the area 😊

Oh the irony of it! Made me laugh. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

When I was at school we 6th formers were invited to a dance at Hendon police training school. Needless to say someone had their handbag stolen.

My mother was praying in the Vatican and put her handbag under the pew. She knelt down to pray and it was stolen by someone creeping up behind and reaching under the pew.
I had my car stolen from the police station I worked at and when I reported it they wouldn’t believe me at first. It was found in the grounds of the local hospital.
It was probably stolen for its good looks …. It was a Morris Traveller the one’s with the wooden frame. Hardly a boy racer’s car.

Apparently the thief cut a hole in her handbag. Police are looking into it

The minister in question was Dame Diana Johnson, an MP in Hull.

I always think she is a very down-to-earth woman, and quite aware of thefts that go on.

I wonder where her purse/bag had been left.

Listening to Jeremy Vine show today and people were ringing in about things they had had stolen in unlikely places.

A man rang in and said after he qualified as a barrister, his grandfather bought him a very expensive pen. (About £120 around 40 years ago.) It was stolen from a room that only barristers are allowed in.

A woman had her bag and contents stolen at the Vatican. There were so many examples. A Policeman was jailed today for stealing approx £100 from the pocket of a man who collapsed.

It rather depends on where in the Vatican the good lady was, how shocked we should be. There are quite a lot of places in the Vatican city that the general public is admitted to, after all.

My friend was a senior police officer in uniform after attending court one day she went for lunch and hung her bag on the back of her chair and it was stolen. No one is safe from theft.

I take a different view.
Whilst I don’t approve of stealing (who would really?) I think that if it had to happen to anyone, it’s good it happened to her, because it’s a good thing if ministers understand how the ordinary person in the street feels when they experience petty crime. Government Ministers are so protected that they lose any sense of what ordinary people feel. This incident will hopefully be remembered by her as she goes forward in her role, and will inform her decisions.

That’s a really good point!

Many years ago, I was working as a store detective. My bag got stolen from the staff room! I bet the perpetrator had a right good laugh when they found all the associated paperwork in there blush

Couldn't make it up!

Imagine feeling all around your bag in every pocket, then taking it all out and checking again, before you have to start telling people...

56 year old man from Coventry has been arrested for the theft so not a police officer.
Was he sent there by the police officers?
🤣🤣🤣

The theft is a really awful thing to happen to anyone, with the additional embarrassment of being on TV.
She should have read all the advice on cross-body bags on GN.
