Dickens- the hope for a serious debate about our politics is long gone. Nonsense posts like the one from Big Bopper arenโ€™t worth responding to

Dickens Sat 18-Jan-25 11:49:25

The way things are going many multi millionaires will leave the country due to high taxes.

I also read that if Labour keeps going on the way they are doing, there could be a vote of no confidence in Starmer and he could be called before the King who will ask him to stand down, the same as what happened to Truss. They say that the publics perception of him has never ever been as low as it is now because he has made it clear he hates pensioners.

Get him out, get him out.

They say that the publics perception of him has never ever been as low as it is now because he has made it clear he hates pensioners.

He really doesn't hate pensioners. That is pure over-emotional hype.

Honestly, what chance of a serious debate with this kind of claptrap.

Yes the Labour Party will notice if Farage leaves the country foxie48

foxie48 Sat 18-Jan-25 11:32:18

Perhaps Mr Farage will leave now he's Britain's highest earning MP. He'd have to give up his seat, of course, but would anyone notice?

These are the patriotic people๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

LizzieDrip Sat 18-Jan-25 09:36:27

Fine!

There is no more patriotic act than paying your taxes. The millionaires who are leaving are not patriotic - not matter how much they shout about being so.

Goodbye๐Ÿ‘‹

A seventy one year old man is retiring to Dubai or Southern Spain. I cannot see this as news.

Chocolatelovinggran
Itโ€™s a chance to have a rant about him and a grumble about which ever party you donโ€™t favour. All in a dayโ€™s GN.

It just dawned on me today that he was a very vocal critic of Brexit. And yet now supports Farage and the Reform party. So I can only conclude that he has some very scrambled ideas about a lot of things confused.

JaneJudge Sun 15-Sept-24 16:06:36

Doesn't he own a whole village in Hertfordshire or am I getting mixed up with someone else?

Soelf-made women? many. Dame Stephanie Shirley, of computer programming fame, Hilary Devey, who formed Pallet-Ex, Anita Roddick of The Body Shop and many thousands of others.

All have far more sense than to want to spend their retirement in Dubai, where it is so hot you have to spend all your time in air conditioned buildings and there is nothing to do except dribble away time.

There is plenty to do in Dubai, other than dribbling away time

Have you been there?

No, I haven't. I dislike heat and beach holidays bore me.I am not a shopperMy ideal holiday is a continental capital in Autumn or winter with lots of museums and concert halls.

Mine too. Hoping to go to Vienna in early spring, assuming that our health is OK. There are so many lovely European cities to visit and not all are too crowded.

My niece went to work in Dubai for a Tony and Guy franchisee. this was about 20 years ago. She is white, English and had her passport taken away.

As many as 10,000 migrant workers from south and southeast Asia appear to die every year in the Gulf, with more than half of those deaths effectively unexplained.

That is unacceptable I agree.

A fair few died building the stadia for the Football World Cup, which we as a football loving family boycotted.

Is there a self made woman? Would they enjoy Dubai.

Definitely, we have an extended family member who moved to Dubai last month.

Taking her child and extremely successful business with her.

Looking forward to visiting her soon.

I can well imagine.

eggplant I think calling a self made millionaire a spiv is far more representative of you than CM

I thought it was what any Government wanted, its citizens to do well and pay ยฃโ€™s in taxes to HMRC

Where he retires to is his choice.

Gosh, what a lot of nastiness to a guy none of us have probably ever met.

Happens often on here.

Mainly about Keir Starmer, it would be accurate to say.

eggplant Sat 14-Sept-24 19:59:33

I think somebody up thread used the term?My only encounter with him was on TV and I found him rather unpleasant.

We are all self made aren't we?

You couldn't pay me enough to holiday or work in Dubai.
