Just pondering on the next headline our fabulous press will come up with next!

Anyone else have any good headlines?

I didn’t care for Cummings but the way the press camped outside his family home was bordering on full on stalking and harassment.

Dr Watson. Please don’t forget pupils with special needs in private education but without an exemption for paying VAT.
Or don’t they count?

Children’s clothing and footwear are VAT free, their schooling should be also.

They're perfectly free to accept VAT free schooling.

Choice?

Children should not be made into VAT cash cows for any government.

Best not give the government any more ideas GG13.
Don’t understand why special needs is not better provided for by the State thinking about it all. Why does the private sector have to be involved? First class free State education for all abilities - in my dreams.

Not if it's only their parents who think they have special needs. We've just discussed this.

They count just the same as any other child in the country.
No more, no less.

Where are the school fees?

I imagine that DrWatson is referring to the VAT on school fees from January.

In that case, it will only affect about 7% of the population, few of whom probably voted Labour. Fair game!

Larry the cat ate Sir Keir Starmer!

My Hamster Ate It's Way Out Of Sir Keir Starmer!

There was an old cat who ate the PM who ate a hamster who ate the sausages which ate all the freezing pensioners who ate their grandchildren doing their GCSEs who ate ...

And now the old cat's dead!

For Cossy, you may dispute headlines (& TV Bulletins - more important) about Football tickets (actually VIP boxes), clothes and now school fees, but if you'd like to dispute Labour swiftly alienating millions of voters who got them into power, please do?

MayBee70 remember during lockdown when Sky’s Kay Burley had a birthday party with loads of guests including Beth Rigby? They were found out and were both suspended from TV for 6 months.

Burley in particular still speaks to people on her programmes like she is law abiding and innocent.

Although I'm not a fan, I just wish everybody would just leave Starmer and his government alone, forget all this peripheral nonsense for a while and let them try to get on with the job that they have been elected to do for now. He and his ministers have been knocked back since they have taken over governing the country. At least give them some space to try and get on with the job in hand, so much time is being wasted by them having to answer questions about things that don't really matter in the grand scheme of things, such as him using someone's house to give his son space to study, if it's all been declared and it's not illegal then they shouldn't have to be wasting time on explaining himself at this point in time. There are quite frankly more important things that require attention.

👏👏👏

I think the right wing controlled media are using Johnson’s dead cat strategy to distract people from the things that Labour are actually.achieving. I’ve stopped watching Sky News, which I used to have on all day. Beth Rigby ( who I used to really like) started to annoy me during the election campaign.

Seagull72 Thu 26-Sept-24 15:02:22

Absolutely agree. I’ve given up listening to radio and tv Starmer bashing.

ronib Thu 26-Sept-24 12:56:39

Lammy’s speech has been mentioned on another thread.

vegansrock Thu 26-Sept-24 12:55:44

Keir Starmer and David Lammy made excellent speeches at the UN yesterday. Thought I’d report that one, no one else will.

Good grief!

Is anybody seriously denying that GN is full of childish sniping and insults?

ronib Thu 26-Sept-24 12:46:03

Yes swampy1961 he does look out of his depth but the gifted designer glasses were to help hide his various eye expressions…. The trick is for the electorate to avoid being on some sort of medication if we think about him too much.

MayBee70 Thu 26-Sept-24 12:29:41

He’s a lawyer ( or barrister or whatever). Someone that has to measure his words. He doesn’t claim to be a great orator. If you want one of those then vote for someone like Farage who doesn’t have to worry that what he’s eloquently spewing out is a pack of lies.

swampy1961 Thu 26-Sept-24 12:14:56

I have to ask - does anyone think that Keir Starmer permanently looks like a startled rabbit in headlights? Either that or is he on some sort of medication?
When you see him speak on TV he seems almost devoid of feeling and quite robotic - almost like he's been taught about what to say and never deviate or show a little humanity. He was the same on his trips abroad.
I feel a little unsettled by him in his position of power.

Ilovecheese Thu 26-Sept-24 12:10:01

Starmer thought that if he wrote enough articles for the Sun and the Telegraph, changed the Labour party so that became more like the Tory party and expelled enough socialists then the right wing press would give him a free ride. They won't.
