Neither Jenrick nor Badenoch are suitable to lead the Tory party.
US troops forced to act on the ground?
It’s the Conservative Party conference this week - we seem to have heard very little of it in the media - yet they are choosing the next opposition leader.
Jenrick, Badenhoch, Cleverly and Tugendhat:
What kind of Conservative Party will we see?
Here are the candidates:

Badenoch is running her campaign from the house of a climate denier, Neil Record, so I wouldn’t bank on her having any green credentials. You can often learn quite a bit about someone when you look at the circles they mix in.
I wonder how much the rental of Record's London home is worth? Has Badenoch declared it? How does this compare with Lord Alli's home? Why isn't this making headline news?
Why can't she run her campaign from her constituency second home, which she rarely uses?

It's how they historically behave post election failure, but I think politics has changed so much in recent times that it's impossible to predict. It seems the electorate is much more likely to switch allegiance these days, it's possible you could have a Tory victory at the next election. I certainly didnt think Starmer would turn the labour party around in such a short time. I viewed him as a kinnock rather than as a PM. The same could happen for the Tories.
I think that's quite possible as well, especially if Badenoch becomes leader. But not a surprise post a big defeat.
Maybe that's OK as someone else (someone new) may rise up the ranks..
I think they will be looking for someone else in 2 or 3 years.
Kemi Badenoch generally voted against measures to prevent climate change

Robert Jenrick almost always voted against measures to prevent climate change

Basically, I doubt anyone can say where they really currently stand, and will depend on whether they are pushed to reply. I think attention is elsewhere.
Who would best hold the party together - whether Jenrick or Badenoch as the right sort of character to work well with others, and so on. (Not happy with either, but feel that Badenoch's abrasive style would spell disaster)

Casdon highlighting one of the major challenges of the day is important. Badenoch has an M.Eng in software engineering so will have a good problem solving approach one might hope.
Badenoch might be better placed than Jenrick or Milliband to bring this particular project forward in future. At the end of 5 years ….
But it doesn't make her any more knowledgeable than anybody else about green technology. To be honest, most degrees train people in various sorts of analysis and problem solving. Like anybody else, she would have to rely on the real experts - people who know what they're talking about. In any case, I don't think Badenoch has ever made her opinions on the environment and green technology clear. I've seen her speak at local hustings about pesticides (she's not in favour of upsetting farmers), but that's it.
Casdon well back to the washing up then …
Just not important in the context you posted it ronib!

Ed Milliband isn’t a Tory ronib, comparing him with Badenoch has no relevance at all to a discussion about the best candidate for the Tory leadership. Comparing her green credentials with Jenrick would be relevant, but comparing her to somebody outside the party is not at all.

Casdon The point is that the Conservative Party needs a leader able to lead on green energy policy. Badenoch is a graduate engineer so the detour isn’t entirely useless…..
Badenoch has a degree in computing.

David Miliband hasn’t the least idea about energy or its production or the country’s needs.
When asked he didn’t even know what a hybrid car is.
Well not sure what David Miliband has to do with it, but Ed Miliband was an excellent SoS at the (then) Department of Energy and Climate in the last Labour government and has been very much involved in developments in the sector ever since. He brings a great deal of experience to his role.

I’ve seen threads derailed many times, but this one really is a corker.

Of course they are. I am not the one to ask though
. Energy and green issues are not my area at of expertise at all.
I'd rather rely on those who know the detail than rely on 'instinct' to decide on who should drive the agenda and what they should be doing. At this stage - 100 days in - I have no idea whether Miliband will be any good, but I very much doubt that he's any more than a figurehead, co-ordinating scientists and other experts, and managing budgets. At least something is happening, which I find reassuring after so long being at the mercy of 'markets' whether in the UK or elsewhere.
You do realise that green energy has long been on the agenda, under the Conservatives. Since 2016, when my home town Was awarded the Green Energy town by green alliance, obviously it had been going on for a number of years before that. So Labour this is nothing new. What is new is setting up a Quango under the overseeing of a fanatical Milliband under the guise of BE, a disguise for the infiltration of stop oil boss, my thoughts, being given a pass to oversee our energy needs. We need to be self sufficient in energy, and green energy will not be able to do it on its own.
Tell me other countries that are stopping oil and gas production, non. "Germany has even expanded the Garzweiler open cast mine to produce more ignite, a hard type of coal." Guess we'll be the only country to light our homes with candles, as for keeping warm, let's hope the sun keeps shining and the wind keeps those turbine blades running.
Because the powers that be here have, seemingly, ruled out nuclear power.

Doodledog what markets? I think you will find that green activists have been driving Milliband and will continue to do so.
Ruth Davidson is a perceptive lady I think.

Doodledog we all want the green and eco friendly uplands. How and when are the questions to ask?
Yes, I see it as a good thing. Losing control of essential services is never wise, particularly in volatile times such as now.
I have a problem with the U.K. being reliant on other countries for energy.
We need to be forging ahead to obtain energy security/independence.
This has been neglected by previous governments and now this current cohort on the back of being green.
