They need a medal for patience let alone their due compensation

It is above all frightening. That there is so much corruption and dissembling, that ordinary citizens are powerless and have little redress, that the state and those who serve it are only and only ever interested in their own career and well being, that we are being fed so many lies by the straight faced politicians - of all colours. And all that is of course the most fertile ground for extremism. Those that do not know their own history are doomed to repeat it. Think the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, Weimer Republic, Iranian Revolution. It’s when injustices are so overwhelming and people not listened to. Mind you the Brits will always have a cup of tea and a slice of cake - usually mollifies and serves to keep us down and compliant. The British anaesthetic. And an AI written reply from our MP should we wish to “protest”. As I’ve said frightening.

Before Horizon, the Post Office used a computer system called Capture.

Post Office bosses were aware of faults in that system too, and there were also unexplained losses. Subpostmasters and mistresses were prosecuted as a result.

Many lives have been ruined by government decisions they can take our taxes etc quickly enough but just look at the wait for Post Office and Waspi and now the court case of our winter fuel allowance we don't stand a chance.😡😡

I could never understood why questions as to how and why this was happening weren't looked into at the start. If it had happened once or twice perhaps, but as it concerned so many post office staff its baffling that whoever was heading this investigation could be so blinkered! When anything keeps happening over and over surely someone would ask why.

They have been strangely quiet for some time now.

After all, it was their ruddy computer system that was at fault.
They should be made to cough up some compensation, also.
The injustice of it really rankles with me.

I find it odd that not one judge, CPS lawyer or anyone else in a position to do so didn’t question why all these postmasters were suddenly ‘stealing’ large sums of money.

It’s difficult to imagine the shame and fear they suffered. I believe at least one took their own life.

They should be compensated and soon.

The Post Office spent millions on solicitors and barristers fighting the trumped-up cases against the sub postmasters and mistresses yet are now dragging their heels over paying compensation.

Payment of compensation should be prompt and prosecution of those responsible for this scandal should be speeded up. Some of them should be in imprisoned.

Victims of contaminated blood still haven’t received compensation; many have died.

I know someone affected by this and some of those infected died and those affected by deaths of their loved ones have been treated appallingly. Watching young boys wither away with AIDS. 40 years they’ve been fighting and many of the campaigners have since passed.

Sir Brian Langstaff who presided over the public inquiry was scathing over their treatment and the many cover ups.

Compensation is coming but it’s taking far too long.

Well yes, Mojack26, but if you read the article abut the horrendous terms and conditions set down in 2019 as to the 4 different kinds of claims legally, and rights of appeal, it's clear they can't just pay out as things stand. I refer to this again:

Can you inherit unpaid compensation or does the claim die with the claimant? As only the claimant is technically the injured party does this write off the payment?

I'm thinking that if anyone has a claim for compensation and was to die before pay out then any monies due would go into their estate and be dealt with according to the terms of the Will.

To be honest I think the reason for the delays is reluctance to pay out, hoping many of those affected will die before payment.
I think exactly the same with the infected blood situation.

When the scheme was set up 2019, it was not only incredibly complicated, but also completely inadequate, not enough to accept by many of the claimants: some are sueing the PO. Its a mess 5 years later

i knew someone who died because of that, before Y2K; his father campaigned for justice for those affected.
he's since died too.
has anyone yet received any compensation.

I can. Being the cynic that I am I believe the PO is hanging it out so that maybe there will be less people to pay out.

It is so different when the boot is on the other foot because then the money owed is wanted yesterday and we will sue if it is not paid, is the attitude.
