Anyone had a local election recently?

DD2 sent me a note to say that in her local area, a single digit lead for Labour last time had turned into a massive 3 figure lead for Greens.

I wasn’t t aware there had been any but have just seen this.
LABOUR has suffered a dozen by-election defeats in less than a month as it grapples with the row over donations and freebies.
Sir Keir Starmer’s party has lost council seats across the country to all parties since mid-September, in a blow to his premiership in his first months in office.
Labour has had a net loss of 11 councillors since Sept 16, results far worse than the Conservatives who have gained four seats in the same period and Reform gaining two
Analysts warn that the by-election results confirm the “lack of honeymoon” for the Prime Minister, with voters already keen to “punish” Labour

I wonder if this is a “knee jerk “ reaction from dissatisfied GE voters or an indication of a revival in the fortunes of the other parties. .

The SNP won two by- elections for Dundee City Council recently. One of these a gain from Labour. I favour the dissatisfied voters theory. I doubt that any political party inspires confidence just now.

There is a big difference between local councillors and MPs. Most people vote for a councillor they like but are more party focused with MPs

True, and possibly a knee jerk reaction, but evidently they were neck and neck, with Labour ahead of Greens by three votes last time, but nearly 400 votes behind Greens this time.
That’s a lot of knees.
