Babs03. I didn’t say anything about The Mayor of London’s faith. I reiterate that I find it remarkable that placards in support of proscribed terrorist groups are allowed in the streets of London. My husband disagrees with me.

It says on the BBC that arrests were made of protesters showing support for proscribed terrorists.
And it is a very small percentage of those on the March.
Whatever you might think goes on at these marches ronib I can assure you that most people are just there because they want the killing to end.

Why are they not called "Stop War" marches, or "Stop the Killing of Innocents" then?

And can you explain how can you be sure that most people are there because they want the killing to end Babs03?

Iam64 I am beginning to think that there’s a problem with primitive mindsets and more sophisticated and nuanced ways of thought. I am not suggesting that Muslims here in the Uk are primitive but it seems on the surface anyway that Iran is. I was not particularly pro Israel a year ago and held a neutral opinion. However in the circumstances, it feels that Israel is having to respond with increasing ferocity and this has been encouraged by Iran.

I can understand why someone would be apprehensive about lighting a candle in an area with a high Muslim population.
But then it all depends on whether they are Sunni or Shia Muslims.
Even that in itself could start a fight in Muslim areas.

I critisize Netanyahu as a political leader not as a Jew, I don’t care what faith he has, so please extend the same respect when talking about Sadiq Khan.

Everything is tribal, one tribe good the other tribe bad, has ever been thus and is impossible to get through to some that the very prejudices and suffering they go through is the same for the very people they demonise.
Antisemitism is as bad as Islamophobia but both tribes can be as bad as each other in attacking the other side in the self same way they abhor themselves.Perhaps those implying that Khan allows marches calling for a ceasefire to take place because he is a Muslim and that ‘Asians’ are against people burning candles on their window sills because presumably they are Muslim and so by definition heartless, could wonder for a moment how that would come across if they were saying this about Jews.

Why on earth would living in an area with many ‘Asian’ people stop anyone showing support for the victims of terrorists. What does ‘Asian’ mean? I suspect it means Muslim.

FYI

The Police were ordered to arrest those carrying Hezbollah placards today as they are a proscribed organisation. Two were arrested and they have requested any footage from the public as well as the street CCTV in order to further ID those who did. We are working to locate those involved.

I live in a (mainly) Asian area so I will not be lighting any candles.

The hostages seem to have been forgotten as Israel has ploughed on to commit genocide and war crimes. I am ashamed that our government supports their leadership. Another mad Trumpian dictator.

They should be fined heavily for inciting violence. It is a war situation. You wouldn’t allow Nazi symbols , this is the same.

This weekend, and on Monday 7th October in particular, I am thinking about will continue be thinking about the families and young people who were murdered most brutally one year ago. Yes, I will light a candle on Monday and put it in my window in remembrance.

The 13th October seems more appropriate to remember the people who have died in Gaza as a result of the war that Hamas started. The 13th October was the first day of bombing in Gaza.

I will continue to remember the people taken as hostages into the tunnels of Gaza, and I will remember those who died and were executed as a result of being taken into Gaza as hostages, in particular the only British hostage still held in Gaza, a young woman who is British/Israeli, and whose mother has been petitioning our government to urge them to do more to secure her release.

I will continue to pray for peace 🙏 and for the lives all those involved, although I find it impossible to pray for, or care about what happens to terrorists.

I would like to see these pro- Palestinian marches banned once and for all.

It’s appalling how they have been allowed to continue with supporters chanting their obnoxious propaganda.

I am 100% behind Israel in their battle to eradicate as many vile terrorist monsters as possible.

We surely all know by now that the Jewish people are fighting for their very survival in this war?

And I think I will have to leave you to discuss this with your husband ronib, because my bed is beckoning.

It's amazing that people in London were carrying placards today professing support for Hezbollah, claiming they are not terrorists, when in fact many Lebanese people themselves do not support them.
