A ridiculous way for the SNP to avoid the real tasks of devolved government, especially the failing education service, mammoth drug deaths, etc. It's not surprising they got a bloody nose from Scottish voters at the recent General Election.

So it’s OK for a man to wake up one morning and decide “Im going to be female today” put on a dress and make up and behave as a woman.

According to the SNP ... yes , absolutely.. and he has free rein in womens toilets and changing rooms.... Oh! and we have to 'be kind' amd accommodate and understand

Scotland deserves the SNP just 24 different classifications of weirdos, bonkers.

... and I assure you David we do not deserve what the SNP Government are doing to our country.

My what a slippery slope someone created... nasty bumps coming at the bottom for some I fear.

Sarnia

The world has gone utterly mad and we are expected to pander to all this clap trap.

Sadly Sarnia it is the SNP Government of Scotland that has gone utterly mad.... the only hope is that people recognise this in the next election and remove them from office.
I strongly object to be forced to contribue to their salaries.

Behave as a woman?
The only people who can do that are women.

Deciding he’s going to be female?
Means he’s ignorant of biological facts.

Put on a dress?
Women don’t need to put on a dress to be female or a woman. Equally not wearing a dress doesn’t mean they are not female or not a woman.

As long as his lie doesn’t damage or isn’t detrimental to females and he doesn’t expect others to lie to indulge his fantasy,
he’s welcome to be a bloke in a frock.

I don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem with government departments wasting time and money on these spurious studies.

Luckygirl3 Mon 21-Oct-24 09:18:48

I sometimes wonder what people will think about all this in 100 years time. Will they look back and think we were all completely bonkers and see us as neanderthals? See us as similar to those who believed the world was flat or who thought head bumps could be diagnostic tools?

It is all very very silly of course, but so dangerous because young heads are being turned by this and their lives ruined.

I am all for live and let live when it comes to people's life choices, as long as they do not harm anyone else, but this nonsense of governments and organizations devoting so much time and money to coming up with these nonsensical reports when they should be solving the housing crisis makes me really mad.

That was confusing enough wasn't it Witzend hmm.

Witzend Mon 21-Oct-24 08:47:42

I don’t suppose I’m the only one to be nostalgic for the days when ‘gender’ was associated pretty much solely with the foreign language nouns you had to learn - M,F, N…..

Doodledog Mon 21-Oct-24 08:41:40

I suspect that most people are gender non-conforming. It depends on whose view of gender you accept as ‘right’. Gender is an entirely social construct with no scientific or biological base whatsoever, so it’s not really possible to conform to it, other than by behaving in ways proscribed by the fashion of the day.

TerriBull Mon 21-Oct-24 08:40:40

They do appear NOT, to be recognising the status of "furries" in what they may well perceive as a comprehensive list of how people wish to identify. Really! is it though ? Not everyone wants to identify as a human being. Species omissions would seem a woeful oversight surely some sub categories, should be included "Moons" for example, "bagpipes" and there will be those who identify as inanimate objects. teapots, spoons, dustbins, lawn mowers, those also need to be broken down into their own groups.NO! NOT INCLUSIVE AT ALLangry

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 21-Oct-24 08:30:05

Imagine even saying to 99% of people “I’m gender non conforming”.

“Eh, what dear?”

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 21-Oct-24 08:27:37

No jasper if we disagree it promotes healthy debate or discussion. One can either join in, or not.

Doodledog Mon 21-Oct-24 08:19:05

It’s meaningless though. Whatever so-called ‘gender’ they consider themselves to be, people are either male or female, and that’s the important bit.

In any case the ‘genders’ are constructed around out of date assumptions about the roles that used to be played by men and women (or girls and boys). Gender roles have moved on, and a female gender role may still encompass a liking for lipstick and frilly dresses, but also for pints of Guinness and Yorkie bars. Or a preference for jeans, Docs and tattoos, and a liking for Babycham and fairy cakes, Who cares? If someone has female gametes she is still a woman.

This just encourages introspection and (if these ‘genders’ carry rights with them) a sense of entitlement.

jasper16 Mon 21-Oct-24 08:07:17

I suppose if you are not interested in something or disagree, you can always ignore it?

It must be exhausting.

Cossy Mon 21-Oct-24 07:59:31

I couldn’t care less what people choose to call themselves frankly, but this is just too weird for words (in my humble opinion)

Cossy Mon 21-Oct-24 07:58:34

Sago

It’s just so boring, all the energy put into not potentially offending a tiny proportion of the population.
Should we have separate toilets for all of them?

Yes! And adjoining padded cells! Ooops

Cossy Mon 21-Oct-24 07:57:53

According to MedicineNet there are 72 genders. Unbelievable!!

What??

Can all of these genders compete in women's sports?

Speechless

Actually not speechless just cannot say what I think on an open forum 🤬🤬🤬
