I doubt it, but I'm sure that Sir Keir and "Robber" Reeves are praying it will......

Not much bad news to bury.

I didn’t think it was bad - I’m sure there’s worse to come, but ok for now. A lot of the hype was scaremongering.

What bad news?

I was watching an interview on Sky ths morning where a small business owner was almost in tears and saying he did not know what he was going to do because of the increase in NMW and insurance, He was saying that he would have to let apprentices go.

Im thinking that like the WFP this measure was very badly timed. If it had been times to come in for April 25 small businesses would have had at east some time to factor these extra expenses in and make plans. Just another example of the thoughtlessness and incompetence of this government.

However surely if you are paying your staff officially through the PAYE system then the increase in the minimum wage is a tax deductable cost to the buiness.

I dont directly employ anyone in my business so it doesnt affect me. Both my cleaner and my handyman are cash in hand for the hours they do, and their tax etc is their own business.

I suspact a lot more people are going to become self emploid or have their hours cut.

No, rise in minimum wages, good, rise in employers NI payments. All point to job losses, and certainly price rises. Many of our small local businesses certainly would like to bury it.

Most small businesses who employ 4 or less people will not only have to pay the NI they will financially gain.

As if the USA election is a time to bury bad news here. Talk about scraping the scaremongering barrel

Trump speaks his mind. A good role model for British politicians. At least you know where you are with him. You don't vote for one thing and get something else.

I don't see why speaking your mind is such a virtue, if people find what's on your mind abhorrent. It doesn't say much for voters.

Oh dear.
If that is the case, it doesn’t say much for the state of his mind!
If your (or my) elderly relative started spouting the sort of ranting tosh he articulates, we’d be phoning the doctor, not giving him access to the nuclear codes.

No.

Trump speaks his mind as the quote from Rosie’sMaw shows, his mind is unreliable.
The irony of the Republicans (rightly) questioning Biden’s age and health but insisting Trump is ok needs calling out.

I haven’t seen much sign of the US election burying news relating to the budget.
Am pretty sure the usual rags are busy eviscerating the government over it.
Business as usual.

When I posted the transcript of the Trump ramblings on the other US election thread on Sunday I did at least have the grace to acknowledge its source. And the originator of the 'nuclear codes' comment...

I don't think this will ever go away, bit like Party Gate... It will get dragged up, at every opportunity.
The USA election will put it on the back burner, but it won't go away.
