Kamala Harris’s maternal ancestry comes from Tamil Nadu, India. Her mother is Shyamala Gopalan and she was a biochemical scientist.
Her father is Donald J. Harris. He is a Jamaican American economist and professor emeritus. He was originally from St Ann’s Bay, Jamaica.
So Kamala Harris if of Jamaican descent on her paternal side and Indian descent on her mother’s side.
Reuters investigated her racial history and identity. Her birth. Certificate lists her mothers Birthplace as India and her race as Caucasian “Indians were classified as white/caucasian in the US in the 1960’c (prema Kurien, Daicoff Faculty, Syracuse university)
Her father is of Jamaican heritage and believes his ancestry includes the children born after relationships between slaves and white owners.
So little wonder Kamala’s heritage isn’t as clear as those of us who don’t have black slaves in our ancestry.

She IS trying to put political point scoring before what’s best for the country. I agree.

And she didn't actually score points for it as it happens.
She was wrong regarding defence and whilst she was trying to say Starmer had his answers written out for him she was reading off her questions.
I think her rather attack-dog style caused not a stir.

They were out of order to make comments, in common with all politicians who make comments about other politicians, whether in the UK or not - it happens every day, and sometimes it bites them on the bum depending on who they have slagged off. Just look at some of their X accounts for an eye opener.
I don’t personally think Badenough was out of order to ask the question, but I do think she was naive to think people wouldn’t join the dots on members of her own party doing the same thing, including her - she accused Suella Braverman of having a very public nervous breakdown for example when they spatted.
It is endemic I think, politicians have become more frank and open about their views about all manner of things, including other politicians. I don’t think the tide can be turned, although I wish it could.

I can never understand politicians venting feelings about world leaders when they know one day soon they may well have to work with them.Diplomatic it ain’t.

But what does being professional matter these days?

Just maybe, given the fact that Starmer and Lammy had amicably met up with Trump ( something that they’ve been criticised for) it would have made more sense for Badenoch, for the sake of our future relationship with America, to not make an issue of it? Or is she putting political point scoring before what’s best for the country? Surely not…

My thoughts entirely. NOT wise at all.

She is getting right in there on the arrival of the first big news item of her spell as Tory leader, seizing an opportunity for an attack on the PM. Straight for the jugular, as soon as she got the job.

She did make herself look a bit silly to those of us with memories, David Cameron was in exactly this position a few short months ago.

They thought Trump was stronger. So they voted for him. No surprise.

They did in the US, his fan base never went away.No matter the personal opinions of politicians they always have to be circumspect.

They have to get on with Trump.

To be fair, Starmer showed respect and called Trump President-Elect in his congratulations.
Lammy didn't even have the decency to use that title.

Isn't it called being diplomatic ? Their personal likes /dislikes shouldn't come into it when they are talking in their official capacities .
