Just saw Farage over in America.
(194 Posts)He said he was ready to serve. So okay but doesn’t he have a job at the moment? How pleased are his constituents at the moment? How much time does he give them?
Maremia
Maybe Farage wasn't intetionally lying about where he bought the house. Maybe he just doesn't know enough about the area to know what is where, and doesn't care enough to find out?
You are joking of course, I hope?
Hard enough to deal with the anguish of watching a loved one suffer, without the dread of going bankrupt. Hope it never happens here
Agreed Maremia. And, of course, many private health insurance providers won’t touch anyone with pre-existing health conditions, particularly anything long term and / or serious.
They’re just like any insurer - they want to take your money but don’t want to have to pay out.
We need to thank our lucky stars every day for our NHS.

Jaberwok, what you are trying to share with us is important, but I think it would be better to start a new thread.
Sorry LizzieDrip, I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I wonder if Farage's plan for the NHS actually happened, how much it would cost for say, a family, to bear the ongoing cost of someone with cancer. Hard enough to deal with the anguish of watching a loved one suffer, without the dread of going bankrupt. Hope it never happens here.
Yes you're quite right MaizieD, but that's what you'd expect from wicked Tories! But a Labour government with its commitment to championing the downtrodden, and it's virtuous attitude to the subjugated people of the world, how could they agree this appalling outcome for these poor people?
If the people of Clacton felt they should get rid of Farage, and it really is up to them, how do they go about it? There must be a process.
He has always had the option of organising a Zoom link with his local constituency reform group to hold surgeries, but he hasn't.
Mind you, read this - he has been active locally -
"Farage asks every Tory councillor to defect to Reform
Clacton MP emails all 1,352 Conservative council members up for re-election in May 2025

Ha! That's what he's promoting. So, has anyone spoken to him via the phone or email; because he says he's done a lot!
He hasn't had any. Local newspaper on 9th Nov reports he still says its too dangerous.
I live on the Thames Estuary and for the first time we have a labour MP. I wrote to him about the amount of pollution being discharged into the sea and received a full reply within a few weeks
That doesn't surprise me. I'm amazed he's had time to even look at a house what with being in America and on GB news.
Has anyone in Clacton seen him or talked to him at a surgery? It would be interesting to know.

Cossy. Because this Labour government is perfectly happy to do exactly that, deprive the indigenous population of the right to return to their native country. Despite all the ills of this country, these people would still prefer to live under British protection than be sold to Mauritius, who have said they will not be allowed to go back, (presumably with UN approval?!.) Lesser of two evils I guess.
What has this to do with the thread topic, which is Farage in America? It's not even vaguely connected. It's not a wander or a deviation, it's a wholesale diversion.
All that Labour did was finalise the deal which the tories had been negotiating over for 2 years previously. Why don't you have a moan about them, Jaberwok?
Farage was asked by a Sky interviewer how much time he spent in Clacton and he said he'd just bought a house there and what more did she want!
But one of our posters who seems to live quite locally (i.e in Essex) said that he has bought a house in Frinton. Frinton is most definitely not Clacton, it's only similarity to Clacton is that it is on the same coast. It is far nicermore upmarket...
Still, liars do what liars do...

Farage was asked by a Sky interviewer how much time he spent in Clacton and he said he'd just bought a house there and what more did she want!
Then he asked how much time Keir Starmer spent in his constituency. The lady pointed out that Farage wasn't Prime Minister.
She also asked about several other things that were legitimate questions but annoyed him.
I really don't understand why some people liked being lied to by grifters like Farage and Trump.
Is Farage championing the Chagossians now?
I'm sure the people of his Clacton constituency will be delighted to know that...

But they were NOT serving MPs and there is a huge difference and this has been happening across many US elections.
Fingers in ears. eyes tight shut... la la la....
As I said, backroom staff or whatever you want to call them went over there as representatives of the British Government, however that is now being portrayed.
Their actions were supported by the comments of senior Labour MPs.
Hopefully Trump, the person described by those MPs will ignore them and their actions as being of no consequence now he has been elected.

Labour MPs or backroom staff or whatever you like to call them went over to make it clear that Labour supported Kamala Harris not Trump. This was backed up by the comments from senior LP members.

Watch this space reference The Chagos Islands. I understood that Mauritius are to be given autonomy over these Islands with the consent of the people of these Islands. Apparently, this is not so, and it would appear that Britain has done the dirty once again, or is trying to. The indigenous people have not been consulted on any shape or form about their future. Joe Biden has allegedly agreed this outcome after securing the important American Base for 100 years. We had such a deal with China over Hong Kong for 50 years, it lasted barely 20 before China blatantly began chipping away. However fortunately, with a new President and the deal not finalised, things look a little brighter for the Chagossians GB news is championing their cause, (no wonder the left want to shut it down) which is modest, doesn't threaten the Airbase, and according to their leader, they would prefer, if they have to, to continue under British protection than be sold down the line to Mauritius, who has not treated them well. But then neither have we!!! All they really want is to be able to go home, a fairly modest want.
I’m not sure why you think the “left” would disagree with indigenous people being able to live independently in their native country?
Britain has an appalling record due their commonwealth “deals”
I’m very ashamed of our countries actions all those years ago taking control of countries and in some cases forcing our language and religion on them, as we knew best, and using natives for domestic servitude!
