He said he was ready to serve. So okay but doesn’t he have a job at the moment? How pleased are his constituents at the moment? How much time does he give them?

Boz Thu 07-Nov-24 11:16:50

My apologies. Council seat not Parliament.

Chocolatelovinggran please broaden the question - has anyone had a response from their newly elected mp? I am still waiting and I don’t live in Clacton.

Our newly elected MP has been out door knocking, I met him again last week in our road! I met him the first time when he was out canvassing, he is the first Labour MP ever in our constituency

Nonnato2 Thu 07-Nov-24 11:16:18

Starmers an MP and he’s all over the place so how do you think his constituents manage?

Boz Thu 07-Nov-24 11:14:13

Anita Stanley secured the win in Bilston North, following the death of Labour councillor Sue Roberts.
Reform Candidate.

Nigel Farage is in exactly the right place at the right moment. The Uk desperately needs someone to improve Uk/USA diplomatic relationships - Lammy and Starmer having failed at the first hurdle.

😂😂😂😂

It’s not his place! He’s not in the government, he’s literally in real terms a nobody! He should be where he’s paid to belong, in Clacton serving!

Casdon Thu 07-Nov-24 11:09:13

Boz

Trump will not have much time for a Labour Gov. so who is FS is probably immaterial.
The Reform party will be pleased they got another candidate in Parliament this week - somewhat unreported I think.

Do tell Boz, who is the new Reform MP, I haven’t seen anything about that?

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 11:04:58

I am happy if anyone can broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. Too many young men are dying. All wars end some time and the sooner this stops, the better.
NATO has not covered itself in glory.

Wait until the tariffs kick in and the Brexit dream of improved trading with the US hits Farage in his pocket, which is all he cares about.

But we'll all blame the Labour government.

Wyllow3 Thu 07-Nov-24 10:06:37

FGT are you happy with the probability that Trump will withdraw funding from Ukraine and try to broker a "peace" that will involve Ukraine ceding territory to Putin?.

Ronib yes had reply within the week.

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 09:59:16

Given that two MPs were murdered, the security arrangements around NF must be a consideration when allowing physical contact?

eazybee Thu 07-Nov-24 09:58:34

I was staggered to realise the amount of correspondence, all types, MPs receive daily, and there are those who write, do not receive the reply they wish for, so write and write again, then complain their complaints are disregarded.

ronib

But how do constituents from all over the country not just Clacton get answers to their questions? eazybee. It’s staggeringly slow.

Sadly, it often is.
I had a "holding" email from my previous MP which was never followed up.
I hope you aren't waiting a decade! grin

NotSpaghetti Thu 07-Nov-24 09:49:52

You are wrong ronib in my opinion.
I don't like Lammy but Starmer is perfectly capable of working alongside Trump - they have met, the meeting was fine and Lammy has (I hope) grown up a bit now.

Farage on the other hand, has not.
Neither is he
trying to make diplomatic relations work better between the USA and Uk
- in my opinion he's doing what he likes best, swanning about in "high places" - and we all know he likes Trump!

amp.theguardian.com/politics/2024/sep/20/clacton-nigel-farage-first-months-as-mp-reform

This was published in September and seeing as Farage has been Stateside at least twice since then I can’t imagine things have improved for the residents of Clacton.

As eazybee has said, it is the people of his constituency that should have some thoughts on this. Does anyone on GN live near and can tell us what the locals feel about their elusive MP?

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 09:19:39

LD the NHS at the moment is not in the best shape or place. I don’t know exactly the plan Nigel Farage has but a detailed breakdown would help. I don’t imagine you have a detailed understanding either? I imagine NF is trying to make diplomatic relations work better between the USA and Uk as he some advantage which no other politician has currently. That is Trump likes him!!

LizzieDrip Thu 07-Nov-24 08:22:36

FGT would you be happy with Farage’s ‘plan’ for the NHS - to turn it into an American style system … because that’s a great system for all people isn’t it, NOT!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 07-Nov-24 08:04:09

Well done Nigel and you deserve a good gloat!
Trumpism is very similar to the Reform agenda which I very much hope will become mainstream in the UK.

Freya5 Thu 07-Nov-24 07:43:01

BlueBelle

I hope they keep him there

How childish. Shall we apply the same to the hundred or so Labour activists who went out to try and disrupt the American election. Bet they got short shrift. At least Farage is up front, didn't go to undermine Harris, and has been a friend of Trump for many years.

Wheniwasyourage Thu 07-Nov-24 07:21:10

Babs03

Farage is a publicity hound, similar to Galloway, always looking for a chance to be in the limelight, to dictate the narrative and attract those who want to pile their discontents onto any available scapegoat.

This

eazybee Thu 07-Nov-24 07:07:15

The constituents in Clacton voted for him; it is up to them to demand proper representation.

ronib Thu 07-Nov-24 07:04:32

I wrote to my mp when the WFA was withdrawn and I have yet to receive an answer. I did eventually receive a response saying that an office was being set up, my mp had read the email and that someone would eventually reply. The months are ticking by and the silence is overwhelming.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with their mp?
