I've seen the women who were crying about the Trump winning. It's not something I'd do but I'm more disgusted at how Trump supporters reacted when he lost the last election. Nobody is going to die from women dying in Tik Tok.

Are we talking about the sexual abuse of women here, which it seems they were all guilty of, or are we talking about the abuse of power on a much wider scale too? There are varying shades of corruption, and different impacts on the population due to policies which are fed by corruption.

As for Jones, he was put down nicely on the street of America, by Democrats. He is on a one way ticket about Gaza over there. Didn't go down well even with the Democrat lady and her husband, he spoke too. She was more articulate and well informed than Jones, who was dancing about getting worked up about Gaza. Given short shrift when he informed them that Gaza was more important than anything they were concerned about. What a prize , can't say !!!!

The thing is Clinton and Kennedys behaviour wasn't fully know about until after they were elected. Trump is already convicted.

I don't have a problem with anyone being offered counselling. It's a talking service and it's not affecting me in anyway.

So, there is no jeopardy now for journalists in the USA? Even when Kash Patel, a Trump pick for FBI Director or Attorney General, has said, 'We're going to come after people in the media'? To me, that sounds like a threat, from someone who will have great 'legal' power.

Police officers and NHS staff are offered counseling as well. Do you think that people who use that service provided are also in the wrong jobs.

Police Officers run towards trouble whilst others run away, they are involved in the most horrendous incidents, and see things no human being should have to.

NHS workers, are also dealing with life and death situations day in and day out.

If a journalist is working in a war zone, or covering a disaster, I can see why they might be offered counselling. I can see no reason for them to be offered counselling due to the outcome of an election.

I can't see any name calling of Trump supporters. It's been about belittling people being upset that someone who has no moral compass. There was a clip of a Republican male bragging yesterday that Trump getting into power that men now had power over women's bodies. I'm an older woman so it doesn't affect me but I've got a daughter and I'm really worried for her. But I'm a snowflake apparently.

You saw one man spouting offensive language. That then turned into every republican voting male being a potential sex offender. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I agree with most of what you're saying.

I just don't see having counselling as being weak. It is literally talking through how you're feeling. Sometimes just saying things out loud to people, helps you see things differently.

I think counselling is worthwhile in many circumstances.

But with the above situation, I think if you are a journalist, and the above situation is triggering, then maybe you would not be cut out for journalism. At all.
Considering all the sorts of things you would regularly be reporting, and writing about and witnessing.

Life is riddled with people who are sex pests, petty thieves and guilty of all kinds of crimes, and those people probably including probably some of us.

Many people who have whatever it takes to get to the top of the greasy pole, do not know where the line is between consent and coercion. That is what makes them successful in business. Others are psychopaths and sociopaths. This is no defence of those who transgress the rules and laws of society. Just a statement of fact.

The world and its population are not perfect and not perfectable, and while we should do everything to protect people from abuse, we also have to accept that the world is not fair and we have to develop the pyshological and physical skills to survive the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, to quote Shakespeare, nothing changes much.

This reads like a fascist manifesto, and is palpably incorrect. 'Everyone' is not a 'snowflake'. if that was so that would include all the people voting for Trump and the writer of the words I have quoted. Anyway, what is a snowflake - merely someone you despise-.

Trump secured just over 73 million votes, but Harris secured 69 million. Trump had a clear victory, but not a huge victory. Turn out was well under 70%, which suggests that an awful lot of people didn;t feel stronly enough to want to vote for either of them.

Not much different to the UK really.

I've just looked the Samaritans and the highest rates of suicide are mental aged 45 to 49 followed by women 50 to 54 in 2023 so where are we failing middle aged people?

I suspect that middle aged people are the ones who think they can "cope" the best.
And therefore are reluctant to seek help.

That is somewhat of a misrepresentation FriedGreenTomatoes2, because all newspaper groups are losing money year on year on that side of the business, and are restructuring their profiles. The Guardian is actually doing rather well in picking up online subscribers, which is the future.
