With regard to the guardian not in the guardian, (they wouldnt let me write for them!)

Wells we are expressing a view in the guardian not with regard to your experience.

I didnt see the journalist being shot post before I posted. However that sentiment was expressed on here when trump was shot and was quite a common refrain elsewhere.

I think the fact that I've told you why I'm upset about why I'm stressed about Trump getting but some of you are still sneering shows what you're like.

If they are at risk because of mean words then every gender critical feminist should be under armed guard.
The quotes you listed are used against social media owners by pretty much everyone. Full discussion on The View today about 'going after social media'. The term fake news is not a threat against journalists.
If it was the daily mail journalists would need constant protection.

jasper why should anything stop? GNHQ are the moderators on this site.

Thank goodness.

I was going to say I don’t believe this nonsense for one minute, but actually nothing would surprise me where the sanctimonious Guardian is concerned !

The man is a legally defined sex offender and I'm upset because I've been raped. It's probably upset a lot of other victims.

I'd imagine the family of the police officer who was murdered by the Capitol rioters and the 174 police officers injured are a pretty upset.

Trump getting in isn't just about being left or right. There's an organisation called 'Republicans against Trump's. It is frightening that someone like is in.

OK This has finally broken me. For my well being I'm signing off.

The people who start these threads and who revere Farage and Trump and so on have a lot to answer for.

It's not going to stop though is it?

"Earlier this week, Trump told a crowd in Pennsylvania that he wouldn’t mind if journalists got shot."

edition.cnn.com/2024/11/07/media/trump-news-media-press-freedom-threats/index.html

It only takes one loony to listen to the stuff he's come out with and follow up on it.

The guardian staff are not at risk of assault because of trump.

Really? How do you know?

Have you been physically threatened for your views or challenging opinions?

There's more to this than just upsetting journalists.

Trump has called journalists 'enemies of the people' and has dismissed legitimate journalism as 'fake news'. He has threatened to seize emails and phone records. He has said "We’re going to come after people in the media”.

Who knows what that kind of inflammatory language might lead to? We all know there are some loonies around who will follow through. There is anecdotal evidence that some journalists in the US have already been physically assaulted.

Jaberwok Thu 07-Nov-24 16:25:07

Oh dear oh dear! Perhaps it's a scam, no one could be that pathetic!! Alarming fault lines? More like the result was 'Too big to rig?!' The arrogance of the left knows no bounds.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Nov-24 16:20:46

Oh dear!

The Guardian is offering counselling to staff as it vowed to support its workforce after Donald Trump’s “upsetting” US election victory this week.

In an email to staff, The Guardian’s editor Katharine Viner said the election had “exposed alarming fault lines on many fronts” and urged journalists based in the UK to contact colleagues in the US “to offer your support”.

I’m glad I don’t give The Guardian any of my money if they waste it to coddle employees in this way!
