I was so sorry to read this just now.
He was 90 and died peacefully at home with his family around him.
What we would all want, wouldn’t we?

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear this.

A very good actor and I loved his canal journeys with his wife Prunella Scales.
What will happen to her now, I wonder?

RIP Timothy West.

I am really sad about this.

Timothy West was such a great and versatile actor, and was a lovely human being too.

He was closely associated with Bristol, where I live. I remember as a child back in the seventies spotting him in Bristol while out shopping with my mum. I was a bit star struck because at the time he was in Edward The 7th on tv and I was engrossed in the series. He could see I knew it was him....he stopped to see if I wanted to approach him....I was too shy and mum wanted to get on with the day....so I never got to speak to him, wish I had. xx

The canal journeys were so enjoyable.
The series was an unexpected hit for Channel 4 who just expected to film a few episodes, but it turned out to be so popular with viewers that it ran for quite a few series over the years.

As well as being a great actor, he seemed such a lovely caring chap, especially how he interacted with Prunella who had developed dementia in the latter series.

So sad - very accomplished gentleman. Is Prunella still with us ? I know she had dementia. Though dementia is a cruel disease, it’s a mixed blessing. She will not feel the pain of loss. I know this. My mother had undiagnosed Alzheimer’s - when my brother passed away, she kept asking if he was sleeping 😢

I am really sad to hear this. His canal journeys with Prunella and their devotion to each other were a beacon of light in a world where growing old can often feel bleak. I thought/hoped she would go first.

Condolences to his loving family.

Oh yes so there is. I looked under Chats and News and Politics but I forgot to check under the TV section.

already a thread

This one came up in Trending, sorry I didn't see another one.

I heard about it on the lunchtime News and came on to Gransnet to see if anybody had started a thread. This one was near the top of the Active list so I looked no further.

Duplication often happens when a well known person dies.
