Believe TRUMP had his new best friend on jet to WASHINGTON and now the richest man in the world, is Trump’s right hand… wonder how Vance feels. IMO Musk paid for TRUMPS election… am sure many US folks are gasping at what’s to come…

👏👏👏👏

Thank goodness in the UK we have a strong independent judiciary.

As for the people Trump is appointing - just go over to the Trump and Musk thread to see who they actually are. A bunch of criminals and misfits. Just look at who is set to be in charge of the mightiest, richest military in human history:

" is the weekend host of Fox News’s breakfast show, Pete Hegseth. Admittedly, he served in Iraq and Afghanistan – and as a prison guard in Guantánamo Bay – but Hegseth has never run a whelk stall, let alone one of the world’s biggest organisations, employing close to 3 million people. His rank inexperience would be worrying enough, until you become familiar with what he believes.

He’s covered in tattoos, including symbols favoured by the Christian nationalist far right, among them the slogan Deus Vult and the Jerusalem cross"

People did vote for Trump but I do wonder what they were allowed to see and hear on which they based their votes.
Elon Musk ruined formerly Twitter, now X and the Guardian have said that they will no longer use it. I didn't have to delete my account because it was deleted for me and I won't open a new account. Musk can't be daft as he is extremely rich but his views make him extremely dangerous also.

“The President-elect has shut himself away at Mar-a-Lago to go through candidates’ profiles, and absolute loyalty is a prerequisite”

Good for Trump. No ‘Blob’ is going to hold him back from what he wants to achieve this time round. He’s had a term in office and no doubt learnt how to navigate better. He was voted in by a majority (sorry all you on here who don’t like him but hey that’s democracy) and they look to him now to Put America First. I quite envy them to be honest having such a patriot in charge of legislation. We here can only dream of such huge ambition and statesmanship being offered to us.

Very well said, FGT! I know we are in a minority but hopefully people will wake up soon and see that we desperately need a Trump here save our country from disaster under this Marxist government.

I feel quite confident in saying that will never happen. No convicted criminal with outstanding charges would ever be elected in the UK, because our leaders are not directly elected by the populace, thank goodness.

About $199,990,000. And that's not adding in the Twitter purchase which was $44 billion heading down the pan after it stopped being impartial and went full Trump.

Twitter never was impartial before Musk bought it. Now it IS impartial because everyone has a voice, regardless of their politics. It was a very Left-wing platform at that time; pre-Musk, anyone with a right-leaning opinion was shadow-banned or blocked. Do some research into 'the Twitter files' if you don't believe me.

Thinking that Elon Musk is set on being President. Wouldn’t be surprised as anything can happen in America or so it seems.

Very interesting as the Constitution, I believe, says the President has to be born in the USA. Will they (he) change sacred the Constitution and would they, at the same time, change gun law?

Dynawritecat Sat 16-Nov-24 12:44:07

Mussolini comes to mind. The man Trump modelled himself on. Didn't end so well.

I think Farage has been known to travel the world supporting right wing activists.

And all expenses paid, as well, by individuals and firms "gifts".

I’m not sure what the difference is between Elon Musk and Lord Alli, he of the Downing Street pass.
Lord Alli has donated thousands to various Labour politicians over the years. He gave both Andy Burnham and Liz Kendall £26,500 towards their party leadership bids in 2015 and £10,000 to Owen Smith the following year.
He became Sir Keir Starmer's chief campaign fundraiser in 2022 but has given him more than £39,000 in gifts since the previous general election in 2019.
Sky News' Westminster Accounts revealed the peer has donated almost £19,000 in luxury workwear and glasses to the prime minister and his wife so far this year.
He spent a similar sum on accommodation and other "private office costs" for him during the election campaign, accounts show.
According to the register of MPs' interest, Lord Alli has given £14,000 to Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson for "work events".
He also let deputy leader Angela Rayner stay at his New York home for New Year's Eve and gave her £2,230 in donations for clothes.

But does Lord Alli own and control one of the biggest social media platforms in the world ? And did he offer people financial incentives to vote for Labour?

Who knows. Did Biden send activists to the UK to help persuade voters to elect a Left wing Gov. ??

I think Farage has been known to travel the world supporting right wing activists.

And of course two ex Tory prime ministers. Hey Ho.

He needed Twitter to create an amplification echo chamber to promote the MAGA cause and elect Trump. He will benefit from deregulation of his businesses and government contract awards. The average Joe will not benefit. The average Jill will be even harder hit with loss of bodily autonomy with the Christian Taliban given free reign.

David49 Thu 14-Nov-24 07:45:30

The problem with Musk is that he is unpredictable and impulsive, that will not go down well with civil servants who are the opposite, they have to be.

The beaurocracy in business is changing fast, everything is online these days, I’m finding that understanding the logic of each system is challenging, each company has a different format, their own staff has been trained, customers don’t get training.

The fundamentals of business and government administration are the same, making sure the goods or services you provide are delivered at minimum cost. Musks Tesla cars are delivered very efficiently, no dealers, you order online, then collect the car from a regional centre, no showrooms no salesmen. He made his money from PayPal entirely online banking, most other banks have followed.

Love him or loathe him he knows how to run an organization efficiently, why he decided to get involved in Twitter is beyond me

Just looked it up. Bluesky now boasts over 14.5 million users, compared to competitors like Meta-owned Threads (which has 275 million users) and X, formerly Twitter (which has over 318 million users).

Hi, please stay on X or Truth Social. Leave BlueSky for the scientists and the climate experts and the more progressive political commentators. We're currently only 15.5 million users but it's quality users and no bots and no algorithm pushing any political view, You would hate it.

MayBee70 Thu 14-Nov-24 01:43:14

But he isn’t allowed to be president. So has he created a puppet president?

OldFrill Thu 14-Nov-24 01:39:38

The position Trump's given Musk is incredibly significant to Musk's businesses as some of the government departments he's now able to "streamline", inspect/regulate Musk's business operations. He's suggested he can cut the public service budget by two thirds that's $2trillion, and having control over these departments means he'll be policing his own companies, and it's not X that's the concern here. Think AI.
He has ultimate wealth, he wants ultimate power. He wants to be President.

Wyllow3 Thu 14-Nov-24 00:23:07

(the amount I gave includes other gifts from Musk to the campaign)

MayBee70 Thu 14-Nov-24 00:18:30

And Musk made a fortune out of the election result. None of which he seems to be passing on to the poor and needy.

MayBee70 Thu 14-Nov-24 00:17:01

Precisely…

Wyllow3 Thu 14-Nov-24 00:15:14

Musk gave $115.000.000 and has enjoyed free passes to Mar-a-Lago as well as using his social platform to spread allegations during the Election that have subsequently been fact checked and false, this includes manufactured AI images.

Secondly, the main point, he has de facto bought an actual top level political position in the government.

“Elon Musk donated roughly $75m over the last three months to America Pac, the political action committee he founded that is supporting Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, as he seeks to gain an outsized influence in Republican politics and a possible second Trump administration.

Filings submitted by America Pac on Tuesday to the Federal Election Commission showed Musk donated $15m in July, $30m in August and another $30m in September. Musk remains the political action committee’s only donor.

America Pac has quietly become the principal ground game partner for the Trump campaign, doing the bulk of the voter turnout work across the battleground states, according to people familiar with the matter.

America Pac’s presence of roughly 400 canvassers per state dwarfs that of the Trump campaign itself, as well as other groups involved in voter turnout. It is also the only group with ambitions to complete three “passes” of target voters before the November election.

If Trump wins on account of America Pac’s field operation, it could give Musk increased leverage over him. Trump has already floated the idea of having Musk in his cabinet in a second term”
