Believe TRUMP had his new best friend on jet to WASHINGTON and now the richest man in the world, is Trump’s right hand… wonder how Vance feels. IMO Musk paid for TRUMPS election… am sure many US folks are gasping at what’s to come…

Indeed, whatever has become of Mr Vance, technically the Vice President Elect? Since the election he's rather been eclipsed by the Trump-Musk partnership.
Trump is the next US President, Musk is the phenominally richest man in the world........and poor old Vance is fading into the background.

Maybe the big boys don't think he's good enough to be in their gang? Ah well, he can always get a cat to keep him company......

Actually that did occur, M0nica, if he doesn't get "his" way in this administration full of some pretty strange and egotistical people. I think he wants to be Trumps bessie friend, but he's not the only one and how long will it last?
Toys out of pram could be very ugly.

M0nica Mon 18-Nov-24 12:08:58

Musk being Musk, he will get bored after a year, if he even lasts that long and will find another enthusiasm or another pregnant girlfriend to take his mind off politics and will wander off to do that instead.

It didn't take long for Elon Musk to be accused of meddling in Italy’s domestic affairs

Sometimes it just gets unbelievable! He's not an elected official - imagine if some rich Brit went doing this -

The tech billionaire’s declaration that “these judges need to go,” splashed across all of Italy's front pages, came amidst increasing tension between Italy’s ruling coalition and the judiciary after a panel of Rome magistrates questioned the legality of a government initiative to detain asylum-seekers in Albania

Musk prompted a highly unusual statement from Italian President Sergio Mattarella, who told him not to interfere in Italian affairs.
"Italy is a great democratic country and... knows how to take care of itself," said Mattarella. “Anyone, particularly if, as announced, he is about to assume an important government role in a friendly and allied country, must respect its sovereignty and cannot take it upon himself to issue instructions."

Musk, who owns Tesla and X, has recently been picked by Donald Trump to head up his planned new Department of Government Efficiency.

What truly shocked me about the election race were the constant lies, threats, and pure bile and hatred, the de facto vote buying, they poured out.
I like to think we'd have the decency to be turned off by such people in the UK.

Totally agree.
The ‘people’ were fed a constant stream of LIES and disinformation by both Trump and Musk. The USA is NOT a third world country with gangs running wild and the economy broken. It was recovering under the Biden administration… but to listen to them and their ( corrupt, power hungry ) Allies, and, despite the evidence of their own eyes, they believed him! Sure, there were problems, and certain things could have been handled/ solved earlier, particularly the Border, but the country WAS heading in the right direction. Now… we wait… personally I’m distressed about this turn of events, but I’m in the UK and have no skin in the game, EXCEPT that whatever Trump gets away with will affect the rest of the world! He only wanted the Presidency for 3 reasons… 1. To kill his Criminal Trials and avoid accountability. 2. Power 3. MONEY. HE CARES NOTHING for the American people. He deeply cares for one thing only = HIMSELF. JUST WAIT & WATCH…..

I totally agree too, once you understand how the media manipulate people's opinions you see how musk & trump used it to get control. They said they were working 'for the good of america' but didn't specify how they would achieve this and people just accepted what he said.

maybe this is it Casdon...

"Posts falsely claiming that billionaire Elon Musk plans to release “robot wives” for sale later this year have been shared thousands of times on Facebook. "

grin

Casdon Sat 16-Nov-24 18:52:38

I am haring via BlueSky reports of trouble in paradise. I also wonder how Melania is getting on with her co-first lady Elonia.

"Musk has been so aggressive in pushing his views about Trump’s second term that he’s stepping on the toes of Trump’s transition team and may be overstaying his welcome at Mar-a-Lago, according to two people familiar with the transition who have spent time at the Palm Beach, Florida, resort over the past week.

The sources said that Musk’s near-constant presence at Mar-a-Lago in the week since Election Day had begun to wear on people who’ve been in Trump’s inner circle longer than the tech billionaire and who see him as overstepping his role in the transition. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they’re not authorized to speak publicly.

“He’s behaving as if he’s a co-president and making sure everyone knows it,” one of the people said of Musk.

“And he’s sure taking lots of credit for the president’s victory. Bragging about America PAC and X to anyone who will listen. He’s trying to make President Trump feel indebted to him. And the president is indebted to no one,” this person added."

.? Who’s Elonia? Have I missed something?

Wow - 2 five year olds in control! X since Musk's ownership is toxic - truely awful - I have to block so many manic mysogonist corrupt racist idiots it's beyond belief - I presume it will only get worse as time goes on (Threads is much nicer!)

A convicted felon, corrupt, mysogonistic, racist, rapist surrounding himself with like minded idiots - truely the American Dream gone south - what a shame for humanity

Hear hear! A man of NO CHARACTER! Cut him like a stick of rock and you will see No Empathy, but thick stripes of Immorality, Narssissism, Greed, Power and money hungry. Corrupt throughout!

We will see what this second term brings… but his current nominations show no glimpse of hope for the USA.

SophiaCharm1 Sat 16-Nov-24 18:11:09

Musk "bribed" the American saps who elected tRump with his wealth. The love of money is the root of evil...just look at tRump's sycophants and "yes" people he selected for his cabinet. Many of us woke Americans who voted for Kamala and had high hopes for our country are now ready to leave the country! My son and his family live in the UK. I'm ready to go.

“He was voted in by a majority (sorry all you on here who don’t like him but hey that’s democracy) “

Most on GN dont like Starmer , even though a great many voted for him, I didn’t vote for him and I think he’s going the right way.
You won’t find many friends of Trump in the UK.

I don’t agree that ‘most on gransnet dislike Starmer’.

Trump didn’t accomplish much last time around . Remember the wall the Mexicans were going to pay for ? Only a tiny fraction of the wall was built under Trump and a good part is decrepit and rusting . He is all hot air and bluster . One look at his proposed cabinet is another example . A band of incompetents !

He has had a huge amount of influence in the Labour Party and law changing

In what ways Freya?

"He has had a huge amount of influence in the Labour Party and law changing"

He hasn't, actually. Would you care to outline what his opinions are on any given policy where he is currently clearly "influencing" the Labour Party?

His period of "influence" was way back 20 or so years ago when he was involved in furthering gay rights, ie the rights to civil partnerships and similar.

“The President-elect has shut himself away at Mar-a-Lago to go through candidates’ profiles, and absolute loyalty is a prerequisite”

Good for Trump. No ‘Blob’ is going to hold him back from what he wants to achieve this time round. He’s had a term in office and no doubt learnt how to navigate better. He was voted in by a majority (sorry all you on here who don’t like him but hey that’s democracy) and they look to him now to Put America First. I quite envy them to be honest having such a patriot in charge of legislation. We here can only dream of such huge ambition and statesmanship being offered to us.

Is it democratic for an unelected person like Musk to be given so much power in the the most powerful country in the world
confused.

He's as unelected as Ali, not sure why he was made a Lord, along with many others to be fair, perhaps his donations maybe. He has had a huge amount of influence in the Labour Party and law changing. Still under investigation re breaches of Paragraphen 14a and 17 of the Code of conduct.

here are more details of Trump's "line up"

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/nov/15/outrageous-appointments-donald-trump-anti-vaxxer

although the Republicans have control over both he Senate and the H of Representatives, the margins are very, very narrow, and I'm glad to say that Trump's favourite for the Republican leadership for the Senate - Scott - came third in the secret ballot, the very competent but more independent John Thune.
