John Prescott RIP

He had a sense of humour and so enjoyed being sent up in Gavin and Stacey he made a cameo appearance. Can't say I agreed with him on many things, but Big John was a character from an era when we had politicians had big personalities.

I have always had a soft spot for John Prescott, he was authentic &
consistent in his beliefs and he worked very hard for the causes he believed in. A fine genuine man of the people, who loved animals too but wouldn't suffer fools gladly (including micky-taking journalists or condescending Tory MP's!

Oh dear1 I was not referring to John! I have already posted he was a decent man! I was referring to some labour representatives at the moment.

He actually owned 11 Jags in all, but not at the same time.

John was a big man in heart and frame. A true Labour man who was old school and true to the founding principles of the party. Met him once when in Lancashire, he was talking at Burnley Mechanics Hall, I got there early and bumped into him in the foyer, I had our small children with us at the time, one of whom was crying, and he took time to make silly faces and jump up and down to pacify her.
RIP Big John.

Sad news, i liked him a lot. RIP John Prescott.

He was a one-off, whatever your politics it was impossible to dislike him.
We need more politicians like him.

John Prescott was the blunt, working class bruiser that Tony Blair wishes he could have been.

So no-nonsense and a political Rottweiler, it's sad to imagine him succumbing to Alzheimer's.

Sad to hear this news today. A local MP in this area we went to a few events he attended. A man with a lot of character. They don’t make them like him any more.

I felt sad when I read this earlier. What you saw is what you got with JP. He was passionate about his politics. I read his wife Pauline's life story and it endeared me to him.

Pauline got pregnant when she was very young and the father left her. She could not manage on her own and the little boy was put into care. Pauline continued to visit him and take gifts to him for about two years in the hope that she could get him back when she was settled. She met JP and after some time told him about her son and he said “let’s go and get him”. He wasn’t fazed at all. They then discovered that he had been adopted and they were too late.

They had kids of their own but never forgot the baby. They traced him as an adult and JP treated him just like one of his own.Pauline was thrilled to have him back. I think I am correct in saying he held a high position in the Police or Army.That needs to be checked. Not many men would do that in those days so he gets 👍 from me.
