I know that some of you will be reaching for your smelling salts at the mention of GB news but…
Camilla was interviewing a farmer this morning and he was put ting the farmers point across and she offered to host a debate between farmers and Starmer and Rachel Reeves
Doubt They’ll take it up but the offer is there..

I wonder how many people running down GB News have actually watched some of the programmes? They manage to tell latest news & have interesting guests & topics. What do I know though I am probably one of maybe half dozen old idiots who watch because I hate BBC & am fed up with Sky & ITV!

Try France 24 - in English. It covers a very wide range of topics throughout the day - more variety than the English news channels.

Thx Primrose, re that "GB NEWS has now got higher ratings than BBC and Sky News" means . .what exactly? That the 7 or 8 people who watch it gave it a 10 in a survey? What?

BBC still, even with assorted incompetence black marks, and the occasional mutterings about presenter pay, etc, gets vastly higher audiences than ANY other channel. GB News on the other hand had esteemed broadcaster Andrew Neil stepping away from it in quick time, and several presenters sacked for bigoted or downright stupid comments.

On the few times I see GB News for a minute or two, they give the distinct impression they've seen Fox News in the States (Chump's favourite channel, may be a clue for readers?!) and are trying to copy it. Oh, and BTW, how much Regional News do you get from GB? No, thought not . . .

But no poedophiles unlike your esteemed BBC….
(Relating to your second paragraph…)

Oh another one from the BBC bites the dust ….

BBC seems to annoy right wingers because it's " too left" and left wingers because its " too right".
In my book, that makes it just right ( in the Goldilocks sense)
I can't comment on GB news as I haven't seen it. My go - to television news is Channel 4, but I listen avidly to Radio 4 news

Fleurpepper Tue 26-Nov-24 09:28:14

lol yes- gave me a good giggle!

I’ve read SillyNanny321’s post above twice because it can be read two ways.
They are much better than the rest with their biased reports! (and as SN3 agrees with GB News she likes their biased reports)
Or
They are much better than the rest with their biased reports!
(every other channel has biased reports except GB News)
Hmm.

I was seeing exactly the same thing last night 😂

Oh, the importance of punctuation...

Why because I like GB News? They are much better than all the rest with their biased reports!

👍🏻😊

Etoile2701 FYI June slater isn’t on GB news.

Wyllow3 Mon 25-Nov-24 20:45:54

I went and checked out the site Casdon refers to.

Media Bias/Fact Check is pretty on target if you run it past UK, US and any other MSM newspapers and TV sites we're used to. Just checked out our newspapers and the BBC that we are familiar with by googling to compare - worth trying it out.

GB rating is quite shocking. Thats not to say there aren't some good presenters but overall it really stands out, not so much its political position which is obvious, but the other factors..

But I'm willing to read up on the concerns as to its neutrality if you have a reference?

Yes, you’re right Primrose53, in that they are both politically unbiased.

Primrose53 Mon 25-Nov-24 20:15:55

Casdon

From the politically neutral Media Bias/Fact Check: their overall assessment is:

‘Overall, we rate GB News Right Biased and Questionable based on a lack of transparency with ownership and funding, numerous failed fact checks, and the promotion of conspiracy theories and pseudoscience.’

We can all watch whatever we like, but hopefully we do it with our eyes open.

They are about as politically neutral and unbiased as Full Facts. 🤣🤣

There are two completely separate issues here. Farmers making a living and should they IHT. The actual amount of farmers who will pay IHT are actually a very very low percentage and they are the ones who can afford it. One is a friend of mine who now lives on a farm single handed lets her fields and everything out for vast amounts of money and still put all her personal expenditure against the business. She lives in the farmhouse which is now ultra modern beyond the average persons wildest dream, she is loaded and as such will pay IHT as no one will take over her 'business' when she dies. I think that is fair, but of course she does not and has tried her utmost to make use of every loop hole she and her ambitious accountant can find. At least she is honest about it all.

SillyNanny, because GB News have been shown to be biased indeed. Just like Fox News in the USA.

James Dyson is the largest landowner in Lincolnshire and owns 36,000 acres in total in the UK. Why should he avoid paying inheritance tax? A lot of farming land is owned by big business and pension funds.

Sorry but I can't stand her or anyone else on GB news.

What a weird thing to say. You don’t like anyone on there because they are on GB News.

I am not a Labour supporter (any more) but there have been Labour politicians I’ve liked - John Prescott, Alan Johnson, John Smith.

Mt61 Mon 25-Nov-24 18:25:21

True primrose53.
Does any GN watch June Slater on YouTube, she speaks so much sense.

Mt61 Mon 25-Nov-24 18:19:07

I have friends who are farmers, they certainly aren’t well off!

Annewilko Mon 25-Nov-24 17:34:08

Caleo. Very well said.
