People in glass houses.....

Despite repeatedly saying he would never do this as he believed in justice, President Biden has granted his son, Hunter, an official pardon on gun and tax evasion charges, despite Hunter pleading guilty. Up pops Trump howling about the abuse and gross miscarriage of justice!! People in glass houses.............

Such rubbish on here. Biden and his whole family are corrupt criminals. I cannot wait for Trump to be a real President. Heaven help you over there with weak Starmer.

If people justify the poor behaviour of the people on 'their team' then why would anyone pay attention to their concerns about the moral behaviour of the other side.

Based on factual - recorded - evidence of what Trump has said during the run-up to the election, it's not impossible that Biden had a very good reason for pardoning his son. In spite of saying he wouldn't.

Rather than me cut-and-paste, read the following link - it's a safe link, to SNOPES which is considered a reliable fact-check resource which provides even-handed analysis; and its cited sources and reputable analyses confirm its accuracy.

... and make up your own mind who Trump might be targeting, or what he actually means, when he talks about "the enemy from within".

I have my own view, but I won't try to colour yours by expressing it.

Why is Trump unbelievable?

Because he lies perhaps? If you lie blatantly-how are people to know when you might be telling the truth, if ever?

Why is Trump unbelievable?

POTUS Biden is morally wrong to have done this.

POTUS Trump is, well just unbelievable!

Absolutely.

Arto1s Tue 03-Dec-24 16:35:10

Biden proves, yet again, that every word that comes out of his mouth is a lie.

Mojack26 Tue 03-Dec-24 16:20:51

Plain wrong but pot and kettle! Biden doing it while he still has the power to do so. Trump will pardon himself... Absolute joke!

Moggycuddler Tue 03-Dec-24 13:31:04

I hardly blame him, considering the stuff that Trump has done and all the crimes he's got away with. What's really wrong is the fact that US presidents can do the pardoning thing at all. But since they can, and most of them have, then I can't blame Biden for keeping his son out of prison. It must have made him sick to his stomach thinking of the things Trump has got away with scot free. I'd have done the same.

Purely domestic US business. More concerning is Trump and his foreign and trade policies though they may not in practice (despite his rhetoric) differ greatly from Biden's given the latter's expansion of tariffs.

Jeanathome - I try to avoid conspiracy theories. Despite which I do occasionally wonder about the power of money to influence

May be naive but I worry more about America than the UK

There is absolutely no doubt that money is a very powerful influencer. Look no further than very wealthy newspaper owners who use their papers to influence their readers.

Remember 'It's the Sun wot Won It' when Murdoch gave jis support to Blair in the 1997 GE.

And the enormous amount of money spent on 'dark adverts', on Social Media, targeted to those considered most receptive to them (and which no-one else saw) in the run up to Brexit. A strategy which I hold to be utterly undemocratic as it gives other 'views' absolutely no opportunity to respond.

Not to mention the well funded lobbying groups...

There's a LOT of influential money swilling around the political arena...

Annewilko Tue 03-Dec-24 13:07:55

I'm pretty sure come next year, Trump will be handing out pardons like sweets. Starting with himself.

Wyllow3 Tue 03-Dec-24 13:04:37

Why cant Trump leave well alone at this point? How far can spite extend?

Its quite likely that in a couple of years Biden will be medically unfit to plead.

Would have thought that all Trumps other targets including pardoning himself will keep him busy. Not to mention major ructions on his policies on millions of undocumented people and resulting judicial challenges.

Heathen414 Tue 03-Dec-24 12:48:28

Well since he's pardoned Hunter can't take the 5th next year in the Biden corruption hearings ☺️

deedeedum Tue 03-Dec-24 12:43:43

I know it was wrong, but I find it difficult to condemn Biden. He has not been a good President, he could have saved the Ukraine 2 years ago and in the meantime Putin has expanded his thuggery. Biden has not normalised Trump behaviour, Trump would do it anyway. Hunter Biden was singled out for prosecution, look what Trump has got away with. I wish him well and his son too.

HousePlantQueen Tue 03-Dec-24 12:43:19

I am uncomfortable with this, but understand the reasoning behind it. Trump's America is going to be a dangerous place for his enemies, and sadly, he has used Hunter Biden as a weapon to attack Joe Biden, and as a distraction from the crimes and unethical activities of his own family. Although it is not necessarily a defence, I feel that Hunter is a damaged soul; survivor of the car crash which killed his Mother and baby sister, never feeling as if he matched up to his heroic older brother who then died of cancer.

Louella12 Tue 03-Dec-24 12:42:19

President Elect I should have said!

Louella12 Tue 03-Dec-24 12:40:46

I have often wondered why this pardon business is allowed. I do hope a turkey was pardoned at Thanksgiving .

Also this 3 months wait until the President Eject becomes President. Why the wait?

I suppose it's just the way they do it but it seems strange to me

Nannyof4mummyof2 Tue 03-Dec-24 12:39:56

Who cares you can't trust anyone to do what they say. What's right and what's wrong doesn't matter any more and does he deserve the pardon who knows

It's a "yes" there, FGT. Unless the Sheriff stands up to freeing criminals, which some states have said they would do, interesting times ahead.

BTW, Trump plans to increase the use of the death penalty substantially. Do you agree with this too?

Sharr22 Tue 03-Dec-24 12:37:08

I love what Biden has done, doesn't give Trump a leg to stand on, regarding his future pardons!!!

Wyllow3 Tue 03-Dec-24 12:35:55

Trump's treatment of Pence was one of the most disgusting things he ever did. Pence quietly went along with Trump for 4 years, never attempting to seek the limelight but because Pence refused to take part in the Capitol take over by agreeing the election had been "stolen" and leading the insurrection Trump happily threw him to the wolves.

Love your description of Trump!
