We have to count ourselves very fortunate that she didn't have longer than the 49 days to cause further chaos. The link gave me a chuckle, even at 3 in the morning.

It’s a bit difficult to understand the ideas put forward in the Guardian article because it’s written from a very intolerant perspective. There wasn’t the slightest thought that Liz Truss could be onto something - for example, climate activists and The Blob. So full of jeers for anyone not conforming to current thinking but without any analysis of the issues. As usual, biased media.
I am almost tempted to buy the book to find out more……

Biden, Starmer and Macron have in common, is that they are all manipulative, cunning and not nice people. Sunak is on his own. He is just very naive and has no back bone.

I'm guessing, ronib, you haven't read John Crace before.
His writing is deliberately provocative, wryly funny and satirical to those on the left. He is not writing for the "right" leaning in my opinion. He is just an amusing parliamentary sketch writer.

Ronib I think Truss is completely bonkers and I was utterly dumb founded that anyone would vote her in as leader of the Conservatives, so effectively as PM. However, if you think some of her ideas have merit, why not discuss them on this thread? I don't like the company she keeps in the US and I assume she's just out there to line her pockets but if you know different.........

foxie48 I haven’t taken the time to read the book so am in the dark about how Truss approaches the Civil Service and climate activism. I recognise that there are issues which won’t have gone away for Starmer either. I liked the idea of a pro growth strategy but that seems easier to talk about than implement. Just feels the Uk is not doing well….

I think her advisers were as much to blame for the policies, but she was certainly the figurehead that delivered them.

There is certainly some master plan afoot. Exactly what it is, I'm not quite sure, but the fact that Starmer has spent so much time abroad is significant.
The one thing they all have in common is that they are taking advantage of their status to further their own personal interests.

I am not a natural Gurdian reader, but like most on GN I am intelligent enough to read through a biassed article and seperate the biassed view from the opinions and facts being aired by the person they are criticising.

It is not as if Liz Truss was saying anything new. It was just the same old, same old we have been hearing since the Conservatives had their collective brain storm and briefly made her leader, thankfully followed a few weeks later by a return to sanity, when they booted her out again.

We hear so little of her in the UK now because most of us see her for the fool she is.

Mind you, I wish we hadn't had a government that had sold it off (at a loss) in the first place. A government I'm deeply thankful I didn't vote for

Do you not think that a) as a new PM he should be “reaching out” (as our friends across the pond say), to other leaders? b) he is clearly trying to strengthen or rebuild our links with EU that Brexit destroyed?
